Title: Shag pay?
Post by Paladin on Sep 28th, 2010, 5:22pm

I was looking at a Werner trucking brochure, and it says they offer "Shag Pay".  Even the instructor at my CDL school didn't know what this is.

Anybody want to enlighten me?

Hmm, good question.  I hope someone answers it properly, because I'm curious too.

I thought it was slang for a short, local trip perhaps?  Or something to do with an Austin Powers movie?    ;)

I've never heard of that either, but I found this on another companies website:

Quote:
Shag Pay

For situations where short trips or shuttles are involved, and 2 consecutive trips are less than 25 miles each, we pay $10.00 shag pay in addition to your regular mileage.

"Shag" is another word for cr*p.  ;D

If they have you do some short runs, which nobody likes to do, they'll throw you a bone by giving you a few extra bucks. Personally, I'd rather they keep their short runs and shove em where the shag comes out - but that's just part of the job  ;D

Thanks Truckermike, and Brett.

My wife is relieved that it has nothing to do with lot lizards!

Ask someone from Europe about Shag and you will get the answer you might expect. Yeah sexual answer.

But shag in trucking refers mostly like Brett said. Doing short runs.
