Can I pay for my CDL training up front and have no further obligation?

Yes

What are the obligations for paying back the schooling after graduation?

$50/week for the first year of employment. If you leave Celadon before the year is up, the final amount owed is pro-rated for what you've already paid.

As long as you stay with Celadon for a year your monetary obligation is minimal, but the cost of the school itself is on the low side, anyways. Always make sure to understand the agreement that you sign.

Describe the schooling itinerary a bit:

The students spend their first week in the class. After that week they spend 3-5 weeks learning how to operate the trucks on the driving ranges and the road.

The average student is in CDL school for 31 days.

It takes 4 to 5 weeks from the time a student begins class to the time they earn their CDL.

How much time on the range backing up?

30 minutes per day is typical.

Celadon's CDL school might be a little longer than some others, but you are also sharing a truck with more students at the same time. There should still be ample practice time.

No, one student per trainer & truck.

Do you have a "No sleeping in the top bunk while the truck is rolling" policy?

No, nobody is sleeping while the truck is rolling.

What is your policy for handling disputes between trainer and student?

Disputes are handled on a case by case basis by management, and a new trainer will be assigned in the case of unresolvable disputes.

Can you get a non-smoking trainer?

Yes, a non-smoking trainer may be requested.

What are the company's minimum qualifications to be a trainer?

Driver must have at least 6 months experience, at least 1 month driving with Celadon, approved by safety and have attended a Train the Trainer class.
