PLEASE help drug test question...

My husband started his first day of truck driving school today and both he and I are so happy for this new chapter in our lives! Last night when my husband went to bed he asked my son if he had any sleeping pills because he had so much anxiety about starting today that he could not sleep, and soooooo my son gave my husband one of his xanax, ( my husband thought it was a sleeping pill) anyhow that was at 8pm last night and he was drug tested today at about 4pm which is getting close to 24 hours later....now we are both scared to death this is going to be the end of this new beginning for us, all over a damn xanax...I did look it up online ad it says it only stays in the system for about 11 hours,...does anyone know if this shows up in his urine test if he could test again, or if it will show up.....geesh we have the worst luck! thanks for your help Doxy

A short introduction :)

Hello Jay and welcome! ") Iam new here too, just wanted to say hi and tell you that i used to be the director of a bartending school a few years back, it was one of the best jobs i have ever had, i loved it. when the economy started declining the school did too, and the owner closed it...... sad times indeed. My husband is the one getting into trucking, iam just trying to support / help him as much as i possibly can, I have only been here a few days and already it has been so helpful, iam very grateful for the people here! it feels so good to know there really are still good people out there in this big bad world, lol. You sound like such a cool person iam happy to meet you, please feel free to message me anytime, i might not know much about the trucking industry yet but iam trying to learn. Welocme again, Doxy:)

Becoming a truck driver with learning issues?

Thanks to Pebbles and Brett! ;) I hope i did not make him out to sound like a mentaly retarded individual, lol. He can read and comprehend commercial building blueprints, so if he can do that, I feel confident he can do truck driving and the material required, he just gets nervous they will not understand if he doesn't go in there and get it all perfect. I think it would be fairly safe to say he is adh ( like Pebbles, bless your heart )_ just has never gotten officiel dx from a dr. I also wanted to interject, that i quizzed him on the first 5 general test questions, and out of about 100 ?'s he got approx 97 of them correct....honestly, i think he needs to calm the freak down and relax just a tad, i really think he has got this!:) "OR SO I HOPE" tee hee:) Thx again to my new truck driving friends... I really like you all here :)

Ughh husband drops anothe bomb on me!

As we are filling out his online app for trucking school, and it comes to the "valid" driver's license he tells me that he got a ticket for not wearing a seat belt when he was a passenger in my sons truckm. This was about two years ago when he first started getting laid off from his construction job(s)we did not have the money at the time so he just "forgot" about it...

It can be easily rectified, just a matter of paying the court a down payment and taking the receipt to DMV and paing then some more money that we do not have and "welllah" the license should be "valid" once again. The lady at the court said it takes about 24 hours once you pay.

He really wants to get in on the next classes starting up, which is this coming Monday, and now iam unsure if they will let him in?

Do you think they will let him go ahead and sign up, with the stipulation he rectifies his license by Monday when classes start? I soooo hope they will....I don't want him to miss out this time around , because as i said in a previous post " time is not on our side at this point" we need to come up with a job, by the end of the month so our mortgage co will work with us...

thank you for letting me vent and for all of the support thus far i have gotten from this great group of people and a special shout out to Brett, who has one of the best outlooks in life i have ever come across...Brett you speak my language, :) thanks bud!

Husband on his way to talk to trucking company....

Well, not much was accomplished, they basically told him to go home and fill out the app online, which is fine but seems kind of strange that you cannot go directly to the school and talk to someone??? I used to run a bartending school, and we were always right there to sign people up! but anyhow we filled out the app online and submitted it, now we just have to sit and wait for them to contact us! will keep you all posted :)

Frustrated

I am having a little trouble getting things at home arranged to leave, I have a dog that I am trying to find a home OR find a roommate that will live in my apartment and help with expenses and take care of her. I dread calling central and changing my date, does anyone know if they mind doing this? My start date is April 8 and it would be best for me if I had until the end of May to begin. I could change it for a couple of weeks, but if I don't have arrangements made by then I would have to postpone again. So surly if I call my recruiter and give myself a couple of months to get all my home obligations in order, I would be more settled. Will this put me in a bad light as far as the company is concerned? I didn't think it would be that hard to get things lined out, but I work full time and I am quickly running out of time.embarrassed.gif

Kathy where do you live? I long term petsitting and would be willing to travel to where you are, give it some thought and let me know, :) I would be happy to help you out!:)

NEw, SCARED and need advice

Brett, I simply want to say that i really appreciate your response to my comment, your words of wisdom are soo refreshing, it is not everyday you come across people that "get it" that they need to take a look at "those three fingers that are pointing back at them when they are pointing at others, if we all could just stop blaming and making excuses, the world would truly be a much better place to be in! :) Sincerely, Doxy

Husband on his way to talk to trucking company....

well, we have it narrowed down to two schools, and my husband just left to go talk to the closest one, if he does not like this school, the next one is out of state which means he will be gone from home for about 3 weeks, which seems like a very small price to pay for something that could turn our ugly situation into a positive...so iam keeping my fingers crossed, will let you all know the result once i know...wanted to say thanks again for all of the advice and information that people on here have given us....what a difference kind people can make:)

Becoming a truck driver with learning issues?

Can anyone tell me if having difficulties with reading and writing is a huge issue when it comes to learning to be a truck driver? My husband is not by any means dumb, but he does have challenges when it comes to reading and writing, if he can build hospitals, jails, etc then he most likely can drive a truck, I'm just worried about the class work, and wonder if they have resources available when a person cannot easily do book work? thanks so much for all of the support and advice i have received thus far...this group of people is amazing! I am so impressed :) Doxy
