Kimberly A. (Desert Belle)'s Bio

I just turned 43 this year (2016). I just went through the most devastating thing I have ever been through...a divorce. My two sons are grown, with children, and taking care of themselves very well. I am the mother of an Army Veteran and darn proud. I have 2 granddaughters that I get to spoil. I was a single mom that faced more uphill battles but overcame every one of them and came out a very proud strong woman. Now its my turn to shine. I have wanted to be a truck driver since I was a teenager. Now I'm free to do just that. Its a very scary journey for me but one I have been preparing to take my whole life. I have been very blessed to find Truckers Truth and all its members. I have learned and read the highs and the lows of being a trucker and it all sounds wonderful. Starting school March 2016 with Swift and heading into it with both feet. God Bless and keep safe everyone.

C.B. Radio

My parents were never truck drivers but both of them always had CBs in their 4 wheelers. I remember how much fun they had on them at the same time I can remember hundreds of times it helped them out of emergency situations. That's what's wrong with the world now we have gotten rod of the classic way of doing things. I would much rather talk to a human voice no matter how annoying if I needed some help or instant info.

Did you wait long for company responses

Thank you Val. Congrats!!!! I applied at Prime 9 days ago and Roehl, Swift, and Mill is. Primes recruiter not responding to anything. Swift is waiting for me to call them tomorrow. Roehl and Mill is...nothing. I know they are very busy, so I will give it some more time. I would at least like to know if I even remotely have a chance with them. My employment gap is the only thing that might hold me back.

Did you wait long for company responses

I just wanted to know if any of you that went through company sponsored training, how long y'all waited to get an offer and did you get multiple offers. I'm findind that phone calls or emails don't get answered. I have nothing in my past that would keep me from passing any backgrounds. I worked for 20 years steady employment until the last 6 years my husband wanted me to stay at home which I did. Now In divorced, kids are grown, and now I'm fulfilling a dream of mine since I was a teen of driving a truck. I passed DOT on Friday and passed my learners Saturday. I'm too excited for words that I got that far. I have 4 companies I have applied to . no responses except one brief conversation with Swift. I'm just hoping I'm not getting too excited for nothing. I sure have learned a lot from this site and admire all the women who have made it happen.

Congrats Quinton!!! I'm not sure yet. I live on Georgia so don't know if they base it on home or not. My recruiter said Utah but I think he is kinda iffy.

How long to get a call from recruiter

I got a call from Swift before I even finished the application. I do have the Ten Street app. It shows my Prime and Swift application status. Swift definitely is on top of it. My first choice was with Prime. I don't know whether to be insistent or hope for the best. I should've passed all the qualifications except my employment history. My husband wanted me to take time off to be at home and work on a home we bought. I also did some selling on eBay. That makes it 5 years since I had verifiable employment which I think might seriously hurt me with Prime. I guess my question is do I be persistent or wait? I really want to do this. I have been doing the High Road Training Program , studying, and lots of reading. Not to mention I have wanted to do this for 20 plus years so I'll do what it takes. Thank you for all of your replies. I am enjoying this forum like crazy.

I did call Prime and my recruiter didn't answer so left a message. That was 4 days ago and nothing. Should I hound them?
