4yrs no work history. No hire advice?

Sorry bart cant do that not ethical. Old school which company accepts the notarized letter? My wifes best freind is an admissions coordinator at a nursing home thus she is a notary. I can get a signature from multiple nurses admins, doctors, and the ceo. I did technical cunsulting for all of pinnicle health to prepare them for a federal survey on building safety. I eat lunch with most of them once a week they know what i did my wife is also a department head. I have real references from respectable and proffesional people. Also i am right by wamart home offices my father has been there for 20yrs and my wifes ex husband is a warehouse manager at the big d.c. All would give reference in fact i want cdl experience so i can get the gravy walmart driver jobs. Around here i am a good ole boy. I just dont have taxable income my wife does.

4yrs no work history. No hire advice?

I was a stay at home parent those are 18-20 days when a child is sick. I also went to school and helped in law on ranch. I do not work under table or otherwise engage in illegal activities. Never failed a drug test and never will. Worst thing i do is have a glass of red wine if i eat pork for heart health. I run 5k daily and workout so i am very fit so no physical limitations. My wife is a vey busy nurse so i was not worried about money. They said i need taxable work history. I dont lie so forging work history not an option integrity reasons. What job can i do for a year or so to make me more appealing? Got an offer for armed guard. I can wait i dont like to buck the system. I speak spanish and french i know trucking jobs go to mexico and canada. That should help. Not giving up advice on jobs that appeal to trucking companies? I wont let a hurdle stop my dream.

Successful people who have become a truck drivers?

I am a math major and want to be a trucker dont be dissapointed in yourself. I have a lot of respect for these people they are proffesional drivers. I can perform advanced linear equations and speak 6 languages and have 7 programming languages under my belt including algorithmic that nobody uses like pearl. Kazza is morpheus port 1214 in ppp. Something tells me backing a trailer will be just as hard. I am not good whith people either so being alone in a truck sounds great. If i tell a computer or peice of machinery what to do it does not ask why. Ask Brett he could have been an unhappy doctor. He loves what he does if you do something do it proud. Brains can belong in a truck these guys are wise men.

OTR a prerequisite?

Home time is great. But when thinking about taking home time make sure you know exactly why your paychecks are small and you are not getting the miles you could be getting.

Brett and everyone that is already on the road can tell you the same thing but here is how trucking companies work versus home time.

Let's start off with you being home. You get home for four to five days. Great now your rested. Before warned. While you are home the company has freight it needs to cover and they do. Even in your area near your home. They will not even think about getting you a load out till inbare back in the truck. Well it just so happens the good freight in your area is covered and and has been for two days and the only stuff is left is the short runs. Now since you are OTR your DM has to work you into areas that has frwith with miles. That can take three to five days. Now you get a few good runs and suddenly its time to go home again. They start working you back home with short runs so you will be near home when home time comes back around.

Basically it can take as long as a week to get you back into the freight with the good miles and a week to get ya back near the house. For this reason most companies recommend that drivers stay out 4 to 6 weeks so they can maximize the miles they get while out.

Trucking has been this way from the start and will not change now either. I am sure you have heard the drivers that run the hardest get the best loads and make the most money and that also included those drivers willing to stay out a bit longer. Two weeks is not enough time for the load planners to plan good loads for you.

Just try the different options for home time and I am willing to give you a 98% guarantee You will find out what I say is true.

Heck you may luck out and it might be right for you.

Wow guy you just said what i needed to hear. That just made all the negativity i have ever read float away. If that is the way it works i am good to go. I see why people whine about hometime and then their mile. I did not realize it isnt just dispatcher it is them trying to plan around you. In one comment you took away all my fears. Thank you guy for the amazing comment and all of your knowledge i felt lost before i joined this site you guys are great. More people should see this 3yrs reading and this explained all i needed to know. Thank you a thousand times for this 5 star advice.

Super trucker? elaborate please?

If thats what it is i have met one driving a bus. Not very funny and not cool. I was at a school in a flatnose waiting for students to be released i was outside talking to bus behind me about schedule. A older driver good ol boy comes flying in late goes to the front of line past me who was early and floors it in reverse stopping 2 inches from my bus. Then he gets loaded with kids goes to haul butt off but had it in reverse and rammed my empty bus and drove off like nothing happened. I reported it and nothing happened i was in shock. If thats what they are thats scary what a p.o.s. and i dont mean point of sale.

Practice test, Is this a common problem?

I had the same issue early this morning trying to thank guy for his list idea on companies to choose. I am also using phone. I was thinking my post was too long at 1500 words. I also did refresh page and tried to re preview before submit. Watched the data incoming and recieving timeout at about 10 seconds but then it still said sending but i saw nothing else. So i read brads article and he mentioned super trucker. I posted that within same hour and it sent. Just a phone so i couldnt tell why. Either way that button is the most convienient login i have seen. Nice job.

Prime , Usa, or pam? Money / training / ethics.

Thank you for the exhale and relief. And yes i have been reading this forum for 3 years. I have read the articles so many times i feel like i know half the people. I am only slightly jaded by other sites like layover. Indeed and glassdoor have more negative things to say too. Positive feedback and responsible moderators have made me choose leave other sites alone. Thank you old school for opening my eyes. I do wonder sometimes how people can say they have it so bad in the industry. I am sure the negative people on here that say they dont care about what other people think dont know the difference from giving a damn about themselves. I am not looking for a handout. The best place to look for a helping hand is at the end of my own arm. I did not look into the industry because i fell on hard times in fact when the economy fell my wife got a promotion that allowed me to not work. Instead of being nagged about getting a job i was told to take a few years and spend time on whatever hobbies i have. I am a technician so that work usually entails extensive travel too. But moving from room to room bed to bed sucks. Trucking would at least give me my own bed to sleep in. If i wash my sheets i know they are clean. I hope my time not working does not count against me i was not on unemployment being a drain. This is a choice and one i have full support in. I really appreciate any input you experienced drivers have to offer your words hold more weight with me than you know. I hope i choose the right company. And again thank you for the wisdom old school i may be smart but too young to be wise.
