Started as diesel tech back in early 80's Engines were my specialty natural talent. Worked as mechanic over 40 years. Auto n truck tech. Did forklift tech job 2 years for Nissan. Did a few stints for myself, doing mobile mechanic work between jobs. Know every facet on home building and repairs too. Jack of all trades lol
Spent last 3 years trucking, until reaching 62 and retired to move and live part 2 of life in the Philippines, after coming here twice before and being kind of adopted by 3 of my Filipino friends families. Currently living in the mountain jungle province of the 1st family I spent 3 months with in 2016.

I single-handedly ruined my life trying to transition into trucking
Dre, all I will say is, you've been given some sage advice from everyone. It's all about getting your head right, and remain positive, no matter what ! And I seen myself, that after 1 year mark, I would get emails, all the time from companies wanting me to try them out. I stuck with my first company 22 months, I' ve never been much of a job hopper (mechanic 40+ years) And I still do get emails sometimes now, from some companies.
I knew i planned to retire at 62, and trucking was my ticker to make and save some serious cash. I only left my 1st company with a blood sugar issue, so I took 5 months off to work on that. Then I went to another company to drive for, my old co driver went to work for. Finished out just 4 months, because my pension kicked in, other wise I'd probably still driving for them til full retirement age!
Hopefully you take all the info you've gained here, and everything works out for you and your new family !!

Owner OPs leaving their truck running all night?
Ya can't control other people in the world lol....Sometimes you're even lucky to find ANY parking spot,so a little noise is not the end of the world. Adapt and overcome, I got used to the "noise" and slept just fine.
Hell, here where I live the dad across the "yard" turns on his boom box from 4 am til 5 am before going to do his farm. Then ya got 100+ roosters all over this mountain, crowing at ALL hours, day or night, I think they are "talking" hahaha This too, I've gotten used to in my short year & half I've been here. Life's too short to stress over the small chit

Good trip planning, and extensive research on the routes, and your pick up or delivery locations !!
use Google Earth, to see the real image of where you're going. It can be a grief saver, knowing exactly what the place looks like, and where the entry and exit gates/points are. Of course, google images can be older, so not always exactly accurate, but gives a better idea of the places.
And never rush yourself

I grew up listening to S&G my parents had their albums, along with a few other off the wall bands. Dad also like the bagpipe music, the Tiajuana Brass, Don Ho, Tiny Tim,etc, mom had an album of the Hermans Hermits lol
As the topic says, being flexible has lots of perks, no matter what you're doing. I've always believed in the "Do unto others" motto in my life. Like they say, "ya get more bee's with honey, than vinegar".....Even though I am more the blunt, tell it like it is type, there is a proper time and place to be like that.
I was always the "go to" guy, even as a mechanic, when I could be, without a hassle or whining. Trucking, I was always flexible, and did things for our DM's that others wouldn't. Which thru out the 3 years I drove, served me well. Lot of the time, I could get into a drop door early, and be on my way=easy peasy. Seen way too many idiots talking chit to the recievers, demanding more than they even derserved.
Much of our current society has gotten way too of the, "ME,ME,ME !!" entitled mentality, which has dribbled down to the younger generations. Karma is REAL, so I've always tried my best, to give out the good kind, than the negative stuff. And learnt to control my VERY explosive temper I had in my youth !
And now here in Asia, you have to be even more mindful of your attitude towards the natives. It CAN get you in trouble if you get lippy to the wrong people. This Monday, example, an American MMA fighter 37 yrs old, got his azz shot over his drunken groping of a female in a club. Heard he died (video looked like he may have) but some said he was recovering?
Some Filipino rapper shot him outside the club, when he tried to open the car door he was in, driving away. And was around 8 people also around the scene on CCTV. Not the 1st time I've heard about Americans, getting killed, over usually alcohol related issues in bars.

With CRST 2019-2021, we used the transflo app....With Legends '21-'22, we used an app they had (forget the name) Similar to transflo... And I had large manila envelopes, to put the actual paperwork in... I'd drop those off monthly to our dispatch office.

Polly Want A Cracker?
They are "Red Crowned Amazon Parrots", an endangered parrot species native to Mexico are now taking up residence in urban areas of South Texas, according to a recent study from Texas A&M University.
Researchers estimate that there are currently around 900 red-crowned parrots living in the Rio Grande Valley, with four main roosts confirmed in the cities of Brownsville, Harlingen, Weslaco and McAllen. The red-crowned parrot species is endemic to a small region of Northeastern Mexico.
Many were bought as pets in the 1980's when it was legal to buy them. .Less than 2,000 red-crowned parrots remain in the wild.
