Well Ive got somewhere around 60 hrs of drive time left and i just bumped my second dock. Today was really frustrating. Its almost like im regressing. Im grinding gears, hitting curbs, and of course frustrating my trainer and myself as well. I thougb i would be catching on better by now in traffic ibtend to panic and that is when the gears start grinding. Is this normal this late in training?

You might be a trucker if......

You descend a hill in your car and find yourself looking for the Jake button on the steering wheel.

Some halfwit cuts you off in your car, and you try reaching for the air horn.

You still find yourself wanting to pull into an open scalehouse in your car.

You get nervous on streets that say "no trucks" in your car.

I know im just a green horn but i never find myself wanting to turn into a scale house.

-Your driving your pv to your vacation destination and pull into a rest area and pull into the truck parking looking for a spot.

Your rearview mirror in your PV is a waste of space because u never use it.

Your automatic PV has an indention on the left side of the floor where you have pressing the nonexistent clutch.

Well after taking my 34 in a hotel here i sit on the side of the road on I95 in Maryland with a blown trailer tire. Waiting on the mechanic to fix it.

Training days on the road

Wow have we been busy. Ive basically been driving eating and sleeping. Through this week i have learned how to float up but not down. I have only backed a few times. My trainer beleives is controlling ths trailer going forward before going backwards. The other day we shutdown at the vanburen terminal in arkansas. I got to hang out with my dad and spend a night in a hotel. I have learned that now matter how much/little time you have to spend with your family is a blessing amd nothing is trivial. Right now we are in Perrysburg Ohio waiting to pick up at hiens tonight at 11.

I hate when you're sitting in a dock with your windows down and a fly comes in.

I hate it when your driving along the blue ridge mountains with a full load and your focused on the jakes rpms and when you should down shift to make up or down the hill and you dont even notice your trainer get up while your checking your mirrors i might add until hill hit the qual com with a fly swatter cussing at the fly he just killed scaring the crap out of u lodging you stomach further into your butthole and then tells you to control your trailer and now you have to take your 30 minute break just to change underwear but "more importantly" clean the crap off his driver seat.

This past Tuesday my trainer was headimg home for some home time. The day i drove from Ohio to North Carolina. Got to spend three nights i a hotel which was nice. Todah we were back on the road. I met my goal of 8hrs driving. I also drove through the blue ridge mountains and got stuck in pigeon forge traffic. My.shifting still sux but its getting better.

DEAR LORD, I AM BORED...

I text my orientation buddies to see where they afe and what not, get on here, watch netflix when i can get it. When im at a truck stop i go in and see what they got. I rarely bring my wallet so i wont spend any money. If im at TA /petro that shows movies i may watch one. Or if they have an exercize room i go in there for a bit.

Either you've been drinking or your keyboard is upside down. Or that's simply not English. Not sure......

Yes, it's totally normal for new drivers to fatigue early. You're so overwhelmed by the amount of information you have to process that you wear yourself out with it. Many of the things you're having to concentrate on right now will become second nature before long and you won't spend much time and energy thinking about them. You'll learn to relax more, keep your mind clear, and enjoy the ride. That's when you'll be able to put in longer days.

Just take it one day at a time and don't push yourself beyond your limits. Your trainer might think you're making slow progress, but that's a heck of a lot better than falling asleep and making a fast trip to the bottom of a ravine.

The biggest surprise in trucking to me was how physically exhausted being mentally drained made you feel. I kept thinking "Man, I shouldn't be this tired, ask I did was drive." But Brett is right, it'll click for you.

I must be special. I haven't felt tired or exhausted or fatigued or anything, and I smoke!! Hahahaha. I drove all my hours today. I was up 3hrs before driving, and have been up since my co-driver took over 3hrs ago.

Well Daniel i wouldt be able to sleep either after a big can of wolf brand chili 😀

Today we delivered to kenosha amazon then had to shut at around noon. Its now easy sleeping durring the day. Anyways i drove through the night again its about 530 here in thorton town Indiana . I started in ILLINOIS around 10 not a bad day on my book.

Yesterday we had to shut down at on the on ramp to the freeway from a rest area. I was afraid i wouldnt be able to sleep. This whole time training i havent had any issues sleeping in the truck. Well today was First night drive on a Hot amazon load from TN had to be in Hebron Kentucky by 4 in the morning delivered it at 1:00am not bad for me and trainer D considering we pick up the load on the opposite side of nashville in rush hour after dropping 2 other loads. I did hit two curbs and still havinng trouble shifting and watching my trailer at the end of my drive. Its like my brain turns to mush and i forget about everything. I know I will get better. If it wasnt for yalls training testimonies on here i would have already thrown in the towel. You guys are a life saver.
