The time has come.

Well the time has come. The classes to get my license. The financial sacrifices my family and I have made and the time commitment my family and I have commited for the first year of Otr. It is now time. I lay in bed ready to sleep since tomorrow begins my new career. No more teacher, no more financial advisor or banker. Time to be a great TRUCK DRIVER!!! I am about to sleep and start my orientation tomorrow with Roehl Flatbed. Thanks for the wise advice and training on this site and hope to see you out there soon!

To prepare for the examination does trucker truth have the actual questions and answers from the tests?

Everyone is correct! Not sure if they were exact but I studied the training before I went to school. It was a week of the manual 1st. I could have slept through it. I didn't know exactly what sections to study online so I did all of them and guess what? I went ahead and did all 6 test! All endorsements minus passenger bus. ๐Ÿ˜œ missed 3 questions total. The training here is phenomenal. I've been telling the people in the class to use it instead I the instructor.

On the trainer's truck at Melton!

Congrats Josh! Sounds like you're just working out the bugs. Sure you will get it a become a rock star. I was going to try flatbed at TMC but was worried about the testing. (Haha) if I didn't pass it I would be out of there. I finally decided to try flatbeding at Roehl. If I do not get through that I can just switch divisions with them. I'm so glad to hear you are enjoying flatbeding. I've been excited since I made the decision to push for flatbeding. Glad everyone is treating you well.

Stay safe out there.

Can't decide!

Just a quick update since I'm excited. I took and passed my test today for my cdl. I officially have my cdl with tankers, double, triples and hazmat once my fingerprints come back. (Already took the test) just thrilled to have passed backing and road test (silly alley dock ๐Ÿ™ˆ) anyways just thought I would pass on the update and say I start my orientation week on sept 15 and can't wait. Thanks TT this site had been a big help!

Thanks. I think I have dropped TMC even though they were at the top for me. I'm 39 and not necessarily in the best shape so I feel flatbed is not for me. Kind I have it down I Roehl and maverick now. Just going over more benefits. Maverick does not match 401K but other than deductible the insurance coverage is nice. Oh well need to focus on my cdl anyway haha. Day 2 of driving the big rig today and the instructors said we are rocking. Hope they are not just being nice.

Thanks so much for the responses. Everyone on this site is tremendously helpful and I love it. Only trucking forum I really listen to. I'm have put a list of questions together to ask and am sure I will be ok with whatever company I choose. After all I will still be driving. ๐Ÿ‘thanks again. I will let you know who I choose and will see ya out there.

Can't decide!

About to finish CDL school and have been stressing and racking my brain and doing research to figure out what company to go with. I've narrowed it to four companies but am now stuck. I want to go where I will stay for a year or even longer if possible. My companies left are TMC Transportation, Roehl Transport, Werner Transport and Maverick Transportation. Would appreciate any pros or cons you have. I understand it really comes down to what company is best for the individual but I do appreciate the input. Thanks.

LTL Trucking - My linehaul job

I'm glad this LTL job has worked for you. I have an interview coming up with a great LTL company in my area. They require 1 yr experience but I must have done something right because they contacted me and want to set the interview.

Said if I do well in my school then I would have a great shot at the line haul position. He said since I don't have the otr experience that they would probably start me in the yard moving trailers for them and then get me with a driver for line haul training. Supposed to be $22/hr while in yard and training then .54 cpm once solo. I sure hope this works out.

I was able to test for all my endorsements in the same day I did my cdl testing. I still need the fingerprinting done for hazmat but have already done the written test at the dmv. Was told by the customer service lady that I cannot do the fingerprint until I receive my actual cdl. That's Okay because I just finished week one of training today. Start yard work and driving on Monday.

Thanks again for posting about LTL! It allowed me to learn much more about that part of the business.
