Carter's Bio

I spent nearly 20 years in corporate America before getting behind the wheel of a truck at 43. Now I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

Does prime trucking do hair follicle drug test?

Carter did you have to have your tanker endorsement before going to orientation? If so did you need your hazmattoo?

I got both of them when I got my license, so not sure if they would have made me get them, or not. That's a good question.

Does prime trucking do hair follicle drug test?

Also the recruiter told me that all meals are paid for. U get loans while in training I think she said $200 and that I I make $700 when I reach my mentor phase of training. Is any of that tru ?

I had my CDL when I came to Prime, so I didn't do the first phase. My understanding is that you get a $200 weekly advance that you have to pay back at a rate of $50 per week when you finish training. the 3 days I was at the Pittston terminal all of my meals were paid for.

Here is the thing about pay once you move to the mentor phase. Yes, as long as you are running every day, you will get $700 per week. Home time (yours, or your trainer) is not paid. Now, and this is important, if you and your trainer bust your humps and rack up the miles, you will make more than $700.

I'm in my last 2 weeks of training (I chose to stay longer because there are still things i need to learn and my trainer is happy to have me racking up miles) and my last check was over $900 before taxes and such.

I have yet to hear of any company that even comes close to touching that for people still in training.

Hopefully someone else can fill in the details on the PSD portion of training.

Skid pad training

Or, you could do what I did the other day and get skid off ramp training. God I love Wyoming... Not.

Getting Hired - Advice Needed

Honestly, anyone that would judge you for this isn't really worth your time, or worry.

Be honest on your application. My past is waaaaayyyyy seedier than taking my top off to earn a living (I would have gone broke btw) and I can't tell you how great it is too sit in orientation with no worries at all because you disclosed everything and were still powered the position.

Don't put yourself in a position to have to stress out that something will be "found out"

Just my $0.02

Trucking stories

I was talking this morning to a retired driver who remembers sending postcards home from the road. Can you imagine?

I send my little girl (she turned 5 yesterday) a postcard from every new place I go. I talk to her on the phone, but this little bit extra makes her feel special
