DOT Drug Testing: Urinalysis or Hair Follicle?

Hey, Bert!

I'm not a big Swift fan, but they don't do hair testing, and they're headquartered in Phoenix. It might work out for you. Best wishes!

How to get a job and training after recent DL suspensions.

Jason, you might be better off getting through the gauntlet at Roehl. Switching companies now is like going to the back end of another checkout line at the market.

Swift does not pay during training. In school you share a hotel, but buy your own food. Paychecks don't start showing up till after orientation and you're on the road with your trainer.

As for s place to work, I don't have any complaints. I've worked with two great DMs and almost have all the miles I want.

Thanks for the advice, Errol. I'm doing my best to maintain patience with the process, but I have bills to pay and mouths to feed. I'm a no B.S. kinda guy, and when I've jumped through the hoops on my end ASAP, I kind of expect the same sense of urgency on the other end. In my mind, there doesn't seem to be much to it . . . drug test results and DOT medical card--Check! . . . permit--Check! You're good to go!

I'm sure they're dealing with a lot of applications and paperwork that I know nothing about, but it's still creating a lot of mental anguish on my end. I've got a substitute teaching gig at the moment to try to keep the ship afloat while I'm waiting, but dealing with a room full of 11 year olds for 8 hours a day doesn't help with the mental health either. ;-)

I wish you safe travels.

New Guy here

I've been lurking around the site for a while, but I've just passed my permit test (thanks for the great training materials, Brett!), and I'm waiting to hear from Roehl regarding a start date. My contact there says there's some delay with the results of my physical for some reason. Because I need to start bringing home a check ASAP, I was wondering if there are any other reputable companies out there that pay during training. How do you feel about Swift, Errol?

Best of luck, Bryan and Jim!

Failed drug test from former employer

Here's the $50,000 question: will non-DAC/DOT failed pre-hire drug test results show up when Class A CDL companies do background checks for company sponsored CDL training? How about if you started a company sponsored program, admitted to failing such a pre-hire test a few years back, got dismissed from their training, and have decided to give it another go with a different company?

Just to share what I know at this point, I called up a company that does non-CLD pre-hire testing and asked if failed results would be shared with companies other than your prospective employer. Their answer was that your results would only be communicated to those specifically designated by the company. I hope this helps someone who is struggling with how to answer the inevitable questions.
