Can a private CDL school lose their funding?

Does it matter if a trucking school has lost their funding? Is it like a college that's not accredited? And the diploma isn't worth the paper its written on?

There is a CDL school in Iowa that I heard lost their funding and students bailed because the students said the diploma wouldn't be worth the paper its written on. The CDL school has sued the students and the students are using the lost funding as their defense and a few other issues with the school.

I find this interesting because a private school would charge 4K+ and hand a student a diploma. To me it would be like going to college and be halfway through the course the school lost its accreditation.

Cooking bacon in a truck

double-quotes-start.png

Why not get the pre-cooked bacon you can toss in the microwave? I eat it all the time and it's quick, 30sec's and wont smell up the truck. Plus it would be a lot safer. They also make pre-cooked sausage you can pick up for 1.00 for a package of 8.

Three reasons why I can't do that:

1. Ewwww.

2. I wouldn't be able to cook my eggs and toast my bagel in the yummy bacon grease.

3. Eeeewwwwwwwwww.

LOL it's really not that bad and to be honest its really good. Keep cooking bacon in your truck and you'll make some friends and maybe attract some lot lizards. HAHA

Pay scales

Check Blue Rhino, I know they pay well. Also there is a propane company out of MO that starts at 25/hour and goes up to 32/hour for a route delivery driver. I will look tonight at school and get the name.

Why did you become a trucker?

The challenge of driving something really heavy , really long, really tall, and bends in the middle is what lured me originally. Most average people look at it as "all you do is drive" but there's so much more to it.

Plus they give me an air horn! I mean how cool is that!

So you ride a horse? LOL

Career Change Forthcoming

OK, let me clarify something, of course there will be home time in that year, its not like you/in would be out for a year straight. LOL just wanted to add that because after I hit submit it didn't sound right. :) :) :)

Ryan,

Your in the same boat as me, I start CDL school tonight!! but I am paying for mine. I am div with a 10 year old daughter that will be tough to be away from but I look at the bigger picture. 1 year OTR and hope to get something closer with more home time is a small price to pay.

Welcome, I can only comment on what I have read on here and by doing my own research. Don't expect to be making any sort of BIG money, I think your looking at this backwards, A LOT of people do OTR first for a year. There's something about 1 year OTR magic number. I have looked at local/regional routes and they ALL what 1-2 years OTR experience.
