From Trucking Wife to Trucking Wife

Ahh sounds great now and it's amazing knowing you two can speak when you like, this makes a massive difference. It's crazy how we miss them as soon as they've gone but I enjoy missing him now and everything feels so new every time we see each other xxx

From Trucking Wife to Trucking Wife

Hey, I'm a girlfriend of a trucker with two young children. We haven't been together long and this is the first relationship I've been in that my partner is away for so many weeks at a time. We have been together for 3 months and my children are from a precious relationship. Yesterday he left to drive long distance for up to 7 weeks. Even though as the days go on I will get back into my usual routine, working and kids, etc it still is hard for the first few days. I constantly miss him even once I'm getting used to it again I'm still missing just having him here to cuddle. The one good thing is our technology now, we speak to each other daily, and FaceTime most evenings so it sometimes feels as though he isn't away, it's just the physical touch that proves he isn't. How long is your husband away for? Also my friends have exactly the same attitude, but they are our men and we love them, they aren't the ones that have to live this life but it would be nice if they gave you support and maybe arranged ladies evenings together with you to keep you busy and having a laugh too as this would keep you sane.

It's great to know that I'm not alone here xxx

New boyfriend and his dream job

Every body is different, but I would think he would be pleased to know you miss him and are thinking of him. Some drivers say tell them everything, but others get distressed if you're having troubles at home and sunce they're away, they can't fix or solve them for you, so you'll have to kind of scope all that out to figure out where his head is at.

Good luck to you both. That first year is a beast for sure, but it does get better. I really loved my "free time" and the extra time I had to focus on my children when I was married to a driver, years ago. The demise of our marriage had absolutely nothing to do with trucking or him being gone during the week.

Thank you so much sue for getting back to me again, one thing I always make sure is that everything we talk about is positive and we are always laughing. I can imagine the first year is going to be the hardest. It's funny how you can feel so lonely one minute, and the next we are on the phone and it feels like he's here with me. Luckily I have two dependent children to look after as well as my job so I'm always busy.

His marriage of 10 years ended only 2 years ago and the divorce was final late last year and it was because of his job that they ended, but I've met him doing this so I'm kind of used to him not being around. It's a different type of relationship I'm used to, but they didn't work out and I could see them all the time so I'm hoping he's the one and this will work for us as like u I enjoy my free time and own space too. Thank you again I really do appreciate your reply xxxx

New boyfriend and his dream job

Hi yes we speak every day at least 4-5 times a day, I have only just seen your reply so apologies. I do tell him I miss him but I didn't know whether this makes it more difficult for them to know while they are away for so long. X

New boyfriend and his dream job

Hi, I've been with my boyfriend for a little over 2 months, we have known each other most of our lives but only recently both came out of messy marriages but have decided to be together. Things are going fantastic and I have so much trust in him and he does with me too. I knew about his job and also as we were growing up I knew that him being a trucker was his dream, I'm happy for him and I would never ever ask him to give his dream up for me. He is a long distance driver and can be away for 3-4 weeks at a time, so when he is home he makes sure he spends quality time with his children and I'm happy to fit in between them as and when he can. The problem well not really a problem, but I would like some advice please, somehow and very quickly I know I have fallen in love with him, but how do I stop myself from missing him so much, and also should I let him know I miss him/love him even? I'm very upbeat and we are always laughing, I'm never negative about anything while he is away....but we have just spent a lovely 10 days together over Christmas and I don't know if I should tell him I'm missing him now that he has gone back to work for a couple of weeks. We are both in our late 30's and both have 2 children. I'm not complaining about him or his job because it's what makes him perfect, I'm just not sure if truckers like to know their SO's are missing them. Thank you for anyone that takes time to reply xx
