Ok...so maybe I want paying attention...how do I check my current balance on my Comdata card? I remember from class that if I attempt to call the 800 number on the back, all it will tell me is that there is $.01 on the card, then I will be charged $2.00 for that privileged information! Is there an app or other number to call or do I just go to an ATM machine and get it? As soon as I feel like I'm learning something out here, something like this pops up and reminds me I'm not that sharp! lol

Online Portal

If you activated your Comdata debit card through the online portal, then you should already be registered for an online account. On the Comdata login page, enter your username and password to access your account information. Your card balance and activity will be displayed on your account page.

Tip

Register for a Comdata account, if you have not done so yet, by choosing the “click here to register” link on the Comdata login page. The prompts will guide you through the registration process. You will need your debit card number and Social Security number to register.

Web addy for the login page: https://w6.iconnectdata.com/chth/Controller?XFunction=LoginPage just copy & paste

Hope this helps . . .

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

Unless there is some compelling reason that you do not have a personal bank/checking account, I would recommend opening one. Most Credit Unions have no minimum balance no fee accounts, that include a Debit Card. Open your own account and have your paycheck direct deposited. I do not fully understand how Comdata works for personal funds but I am sure there are hidden and unhidden fees involved.

Oh I already have a personal account and have already set up direct deposit for it...the Comdata card is just for my per diem while I'm training, then just for fuel and any other company expenses. I agree with you Tractor Man...I'm sure there might be possible various pitfalls associated with the Comdata card when used for personal needs. Thanks for your input! Be safe and God Speed!

Per Diem:

Getting paid per diem means getting a portion of your salary paid to you without taxes taken out. It's technically classified as a meal and expense reimbursement.

Truck drivers and others who travel for a living get large tax deductions for meal expenses. The Government set up per diem pay as a way to reimburse some of the taxes you pay with each paycheck instead of making you wait until tax filing season.

Getting per diem pay means a driver will get a larger paycheck each week but a smaller tax return at tax time.

We have a ton of information on our wiki page on per diem pay

At this point prime is applying $200 per week available to you. Each transaction costs money, including getting it from the ATM and calling for the balance. The best thing to do is just take out $200 at the beginning of the week instead of keep asking for balances.

As stated, the Comdata fleet advance app is a great way to keep track. Also keep in mind your first two pays after getting hired will be on the card. It takes that long foe the direct deposit to get straightened out. No one told me that and i thought i didn't t get paid. At that point you can write a comcheck against the balance at the truck stop or cash it at prime terminal.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Does the ComData card work like a check card with a Visa or Mastercard logo on it, so if I needed to pay a utility bill or something online before I get regular direct deposit, I could do that?

No. Strictly for fuel, assorted expenses and Cash.

It will not work as a debit/credit card.
