Even if someone is spotting me, I still GOAL because I need to understand what is going on with the trailer, and ultimately, if I hit something, it would be my responsibility.

Gladhand, With 2 minor preventables within a year it's unlikely Swift will terminate you. However you need to exercise extreme care to prevent another one. They will probably require you to take the LCQT class the next time you are near a terminal.

Be careful and take your time.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Great "Best Practice". I do the same. I need to get a clear picture in my head of where I want to go and what's back there.

I used to get so frustrated cause GOAL didn't help.me. I could see where the trailer needed to go, but how to get it there was beyond me. It just didn't click in my head. Obviously I could see if I was going to hit something, but I had no judgement at all as to what the correct amount of distamce was or hiw to sustain it. There were times I paid the yard dogs rather than do a tight maneuver I wasn't ready to do.

It took a ton of practice for.me.to be able to figure out how to.make the necessary corrections. Now, GOAL helps.me, but early on the backing just made.me.angry and want to cry. Lol and there's no crying in trucking...unless you're a jersey girl who can't back Lol

I think you're right though...now with experience, over confidence can creep in. There are certain very very dark situations where I need to be doubly careful. I'm getting much better though...so I know you are too.

My question is ... Just because you're hot, do you think it makes you too special that you'd never make.mistakes? Lol. Make them and learn from them. Don't make the same one again.

Never give up. Someone who quits will never succeed.
