Gotta love those Amazon Gift Cards. I decided to bite the bullet and buy a 12 volt Refrigerator/Freezer for the Truck. It is a Dometic aka Waeco, CF-18. It is a true compressor driven unit. It can be used as a Refrigerator or Freezer. One or the other, not both at the same time. Perfect size for the Truck. Practically the same dimensions as my Igloo 18qt. TE cooler. $350.00 including tax. (free Amazon Prime shipping). I will use it as a refrigerator as opposed to a freezer. I will report back on the performance over the next several months. Anyone else use one of these?

That's what I need! I have a truck fridge that installs in many trucks that was over $500 new. My current truck is a Volvo that doesn't have a place for it so I'll be wondering how you like yours as I may get one as well.

Congrats! Should come in handy this summer when the iceless cooler can't quite keep up with the in cab temperatures. My next purchase might be a head set but I'm not really sure I can get over just how goofy people look that wear them all the time. LOL!

Discovered that using the heat in the winter can present the same problem with a TE cooler. I will now use the TE for cold drinks and water, along with ice. Make the ice last longer!

I use mine in the Truck only. Yeah........I look goofy enough without the "Vince the ShamWow Guy" headset, running around the Truck Stop!

Our shop guy claims the Dometics are the best, most durable fridges for a truck.

I have pretty good bluetooth in the car - I still use my BlueParrot headset on road trips - it just kicks butt over everything else.

I dislike the big Bluetooth headsets with a big mic boom. I have a Platonics Legend. It is just a small ear piece. Great noise canceling, my wife never hears my truck running even going up a hill. I bought her one as well. Mainly because she likes to watch tv as we talk and I got tired of listening to a distorted version of her show. It is also voice activated so it meets DOT requirements.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
