Serah, you're only supposed to have one license.
Your "CDL" also authorizes you to drive a "regular car". A class A with all endorsements - pretty much let's you drive anything with wheels. My PTX + Motorcycle - I can drive anything but a school bus (YECH - KIDS!).
But you are only allowed to possess ONE DRIVERS LICENSE FROM ONE STATE, if you have a CDL.
In the case you linked to - the CDL PRIVILEGE would be suspended for a year - but the REGULAR DRIVERS LICENSE would still be valid, if it wasn't also suspended for a year. Also remember the DUI threshold while operating a CMV is .04 - usually ONE HALF the BAC for a DUI in a car.
So if your drivers license was suspended by the court for 30 days - your CDL WOULD STILL BE SUSPENDED (disqualified) FOR A YEAR. At which point you could re-apply for your CDL. DMV will issue you a "regular operators license" to drive cars with, until you qualify for a CDL again. After losing it for a year - you may also be required to RE-TAKE YOUR TESTS (written & skills). This appears to vary from state to state.
