It's going to be incredibly difficult to get started in trucking I'm afraid. Here is a list of companies that hire felons and their policies:
Trucking Companies That Hire Drivers With Felonies
You also wouldn't want to sign up for any sort of private schooling unless you can get some pre-hires first. Here is some information on that:
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.
We have an excellent article that will help you Understand The Pre-Hire Process.
The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.
During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.

Im thinking about going to school to be a truck driver but i have a felony that could make it very hard for me to land a job. My felony in for fleeing/eluding and officer in a motor vehicle and it happend 4 years ago. But i got convicted and sentenced 2 years ago. Will this prevent me from finding a job? I also read that most companies have a 5 year policy when it comes to felonys. Does it go back to when the event actually took place? Or when the court found me guilty?
Most companies are going to look at CONVICTION DATE for traffic and criminal charges. If you didn't get convicted, then it's like it never happened, right? In the case of issues that take years to resolve through the court system - this doesn't work in your favor.
Felonies involving a MOTOR VEHICLE are going to be particularly difficult to overcome - for obvious reasons. Without getting into the details - running from the coppers is probably right up there with DUI (if not worse, as DUI's are typically misdemeanors).
Try applying to the companies that Brett refers to in his response - and PLEASE DO KEEP US POSTED on whether or not you have any luck with them.
