Ok so I know that my TOP PICK is TMC, HOWEVER, I know that 2.7 years back and 2.0 years back I did not have a very good record and I want to come out of my shell and tell those of you who can help me. I talked to a TMC driver who said he had not had a very good record and had been to jail several times, he told TMC all and they still hired him. I talked to an ATS driver and he said that I could not pay him a million dollars to go with TMC just because of their governors being set at 62 mph. I like the sound of working for both companies.

Here is my question, would you consider the speed regulator a HUGE issue or do you think that driver is just being absolutely picky? Second, because of my wrecks none of them deemed reckless, 2 speeding tickets which was NOT deemed reckless because I explained to the police officer that I was new and just missed the sign, which companies would you think hire me? I paid my tickets and my license was never suspended. . I love driving the trucks just in training so I know that I will love driving with whomever so long as the company pays well and treats me well. I know that I will not be able to be picky. I am going to humble myself before you all and before God because I know that I have failed in 2014 to be safe but in the almost 3 years since, I have learned to be a safe driver and to put others before myself. Like I said the driver for TMC said he also did not have a good record and still got hired.

I really appreciate all of you and all of your advice and admonishment and encouragement because it has helped me through all of my training. Thank you Brett Aquila, Old School, Daniel and so on! I am ever so indebted to you! May God bless you all richly! Thanks again from the bottom of my heart for your advice!

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

It's not a big issue. Remember you are learning. Driving at 62 is plenty fast for a new driver. Many of us in this forum drive governed trucks. It's more the rule than the exception.

Ok well that is good to know! G-Town would you be able to tell me some things about swift that is positive? I heard from a trucking school student that Swift says that "they will pay you your school tuition back but what they do is they get you to sign a 2 year contract and then work you like crazy one month and then the other not so good. but that you are really paying back the $7,000 and then you have to sign another contract to get the actual reimbursement." Now that is what a fellow student says but is that your experience or what? I would like to know. Thanks G-Town!

OK Victor, get that phrase out of your vocabulary. It is not the first time you have posted with those words or similar. This has probably been posted here at least a DOZEN times in the last year. So.............Here it is. Swift tuition is $3900.00. They will finance it at 0% interest. You sign a contract to work for them for 13 MONTHS. You pay NOTHING DOWN. After you go Solo, they will begin a payroll deduction of $37.50 per week from your paycheck. Swift will match that payment each and every week. At the end of 52 WEEKS, your tuition is PAID IN FULL. You have paid half, $1950.00, and Swift has paid the other half. At that point in time you have fulfilled your contract and are free to leave at any time and owe them NOTHING MORE. Should you decide to stick around for another year, Swift will ADD $37.50 to your check every week for 52 weeks, until you have been reimbursed the $1950.00 they deducted the first year. So....... after 2 years, your Schooling was ABSOLUTELY FREE! This was explained in detail during Orientation. There are no 2nd contracts, $7000.00 Tuitions, screwing you out of miles so you can't pay them back. It is in their best interest to give you the tools to succeed. It is up to you to make sure that happens. That is it. Now.......does that sound anything like what "A Trucking School Student" told you? No, not even close. Good luck to you Victor.

WOW that sounds awesome!! Do they do flatbed and oversize too? I think I like the sound of that. Now since I have gone to a private school will they make me pay the $1950? How long is their training?

If you have graduated from a Private School, Swift will offer tuition reimbursement. They will pay a certain amount towards your Student Loan Debt each week. You DO NOT have to pay them. Call a Swift Recruiter, or better yet, fill out the online application, and a Recruiter will call you.

Swift is the largest truck freight company. Tractor Man, G-Town and I are all Swifties. I believe we're all sticking around. You will be doing dry van , most likely.

The $1950 is paying off the Swift tuition. That's the part you take care of in the first year. And if you bail at that point, Sayonara! But stick around, and Swift actually pays that back to you!

If you come in with tuition from another place, they'll help you out with that, and won't "charge you extra".

Dry Van:

A trailer or truck that that requires no special attention, such as refrigeration, that hauls regular palletted, boxed, or floor-loaded freight. The most common type of trailer in trucking.

Your experience may be different, wish you luck.

I tried to apply for tmc, my 2013 wasn't so good. One speeding ticket 60 in a 45 ( and I was the slowest one with a million cars buzzing past me so I thought atleast let me get a decent mph going. Fail)

Got a few improper equipment ( windshield, etc ) and they declined my app. License wasn't never suspended .

But don't let me tear it down, wish you luck!
