Every company would be set up differently but if your FM is not the person he should definitely be able to point you in the right direction.
Are you looking at dedicated or wanna try tanker? He or she should be able to get you steering in the right direction.
If you mean you want dedicated or regional with same division then ask FM. I found many of the FMs here do both OTR and various dedicated or regional, so you might be able to keep the same FM. Changing divisions I guess would involve Steve Larson.
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Got a question for you "old timers" out there. Who would you talk to to discuss career development, career path with ?
I wouldn't think it would be recruiting, as you're already in the door. Would it be your FM ? If so, how do you approach him without bugging him / her? (You're not the only truck they've got to worry about.)
I don't remember seeing this topic up anywhere, so I thought I'd ask. (For my own benefit as well as others)
Fm:
Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager
The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
