6-19-17 Monday: I did it. I passed my upgrade. Now, I have to take a bus back to NC to get my liscence. When I get back to Joplin they will assign me a truck. my bus leaves Joplin 6-20-17 at 00:25 and arrives in Charlotte 6-21-17 at 02:45. After I get my liscence I have to bus back to Joplin.

The upgrade test consited of a written test. I only missed one question there. I had to do the obstacle course, two backing maneuvers uncoupling and coupling the trailer and a short road test. I passed and have a few areas to work on. None of it was hard and they are looking to pass you.

That brings us to the end of this diary. When I get back and get my truck I will be posting in the general thread about it. If anyone ever has questions about CFI or the training, feel free to post them here and I will answer them as quickly as I can. Stay safe.

It was multiple choice. Very basic. Some company specific. You should learn it all through orientation, road training and general knowledge.

OK thank you and I really enjoyed your blog it give me an idea of what to expect. CFI is sending me to school in August at this time I don't know if it will be Truck dynasty or Crowder Valley. Be safe maybe sometime we can meet up at one of the terminals

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

You're welcome. I'm glad it helpped you. Even through a slight mess up with getting my truck, they have been great.

6-24-17 Saturday: After putting all of my stuff except for important papers and two days of clothes, I took the long bus ride home to get my license. It was wonderful to see my wife and dogs after so long. I got home about 3 am. Later that day, I found out I wasn't being bussed back to Joplin. Once, I got it and emailed a copy to my training supervisor, I was able to call truck assignments. The woman who helped me there was great. They found me a truck at the West Memphis Arkansas terminal. They rented a car for me to drive here. I also get paid for the trip. When I got here around midnight, I found out the truck was in the shop being detailed and the shop is cloased until Monday. So, they put me up in a hotel and extended the car rental. My wife is POed. She would have rather have me home for the weekend. Oh well. That's trucking. I will be able to get from here to Joplin when I get my truck. I hope this is it.

Hi, Scott. I have enjoyed reading your diary. It really gives you a very good idea of what to expect. I will be attending school, within the next couple of weeks, through CFI. I am curious, was there any female students attending while you were there?
