How is the road from Augusta WI to Billings MT on I-94? Is it more hilly than flat?

Pretty much flat. Billings is at the foot of the mountains.

If you go west from there you'll get to play on Lookout Pass. Not the worst pass and as long as you keep an eye on the weather and plan your run for day time (Don't start later than 0900) it's got some nice scenery.

There are several hills but nothing major. Lookout is clear across the divide. Y ou will have Bozeman hill, cardwell hill and homestake pass before you get to butte. Then you have lookout, 4th of July and Snoqualmie passes before you get your feet wet.

Oh, and this time of year you only really need to worry about fires.
