Sorry, I've never heard of that one.. anyone else?
No clue, never heard of them.
I just looked them up. No price listed and they seem to offer a whole lot of fluff that company driver's don't need, like factoring service, Data Q assistance, personal vehicle road service ( have that with my auto insurance). It's probably legit but I wonder what the cost is?
A lot more expensive than a one year membership in OOIDA. How did you get "roped into it"?
OOIDA is an international trade association representing the interests of independent owner-operators and professional drivers on all issues that affect truckers. The over 150,000 members of OOIDA are men and women in all 50 states and Canada who collectively own and/or operate more than 240,000 individual heavy-duty trucks and small truck fleets.
The mission of OOIDA is to serve owner-operators, small fleets and professional truckers; to work for a business climate where truckers are treated equally and fairly; to promote highway safety and responsibility among all highway users; and to promote a better business climate and efficiency for all truck operators.
Its $12/week. As far as how I got roped in....just a good sales pitch really. As a brand new driver I wasn't really aware of the other options out there and wanted some good coverage if something happened. The first month is already paid for so I guess I'll ride that out and look for some better options and opt out if I find one. Its month to month coverage so it's not like I'm contractually obligated to stay.
$12/week for legal insurance is half again what US Legal charges ($7.61). That's not good enough math to convince you to go back to USL?
I signed up for USL when I started with Swift. It's nice to know they'll have my back if I ever do get in a legal situation. Without that extra fluff like POV roadside assistance. And as a company driver you'll never need to finance receivables with factoring.
(I) wanted some good coverage if something happened.
That's why Swift has allowed US Legal in to Orientation.
I have US Legal also. I don't get the big Swift discount but it only costs me about $40/month.

I was in a TA yesterday and got roped into signing up for TVC Pro Driver otr protection. I just wondered if that coverage is legit. I had initially signed up with US Legal when at Swift Orientation but the saleswoman talked a good game and convinced me to switch. If anyone has any experience with them I would be glad to hear about it.
OTR:
Over The Road
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
