The exhaust temp light is going to come on. When a truck does a regen it heats up the excess soot and burns it off. That is why the temp light comes on. It's also why you should make sure you're not parked on dry grass or near dry brush when you do a regen.
Hi, I am a rookie (2 months solo) and this is the first time my Freightliner has given me the cue to do a parked Regen. However, after a few minutes of Regen, the exhaust temp warning came on. I shut my truck off because I didn't want a fire. Is this normal for a parked Regen?
The hot exhaust light is simply a warning. (It's in the truck operator's manual) No need to call the fire department. And the regen process is designed to really heat up, burn out and unclog the exhaust system.
It's normal. Next time just let it run the regen or you might find yourself stranded on the side of the road later waiting for a tow.
A parked regen is going to get HOTT! Think up to 1300 degrees F.!!! It has too to burn all the contaminents away, creating ash, as others wrote. Best to do it on concrete or asphalt, never on the grass.
