Today was CDL permit testing day. I passed all 3 tests: General knowledge, air brakes, and combination vehicles. If you study the High Road Training Program, you will do great! What a relief! Now to wait for Jan. 6 to head out to Joplin, MO for school. In the meantime, I will be working on completing the test of the High Road Training Proram!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Combination Vehicle:

A vehicle with two separate parts - the power unit (tractor) and the trailer. Tractor-trailers are considered combination vehicles.

Everything is set and ready to go! So, I will officially be leaving for CFI Training on Saturday, Jan 6. I have opted to drive vs take the bus, just personal preference. They will reimburse me up to the price of a bus ticket, so I should come out okay. Feelings of nervousness and excitement. I'm looking forward to the challenge!

So, today life happened and I have to delay my school arrival for a week. I had a family emergency arise (putting down our family dog of 10 years). I felt being here for my family to support them and have support was important enough to delay my start. I hope it was a good decision.
