In my personal experience, the 8/2 split is only really helpful if you take your 8 hour sleeper berth first. Any 8 hour sleeper berth period will simply pause your 14 hour clock.. at the end of that period, you'll have exactly what you had when you began that 8 hour sleeper period.
After that you can take a 2 hour break either off duty or sleeper berth. At the end of the 2 hour break, it's equivalent to a 10 hour break but any hours you drove after your 8 hour sleeper berth but before your 2 hour break will be subtracted from your hours.
So no, you probably won't have a full drive shift after what you did.
The portion of the tractor behind the seats which acts as the "living space" for the driver. It generally contains a bed (or bunk beds), cabinets, lights, temperature control knobs, and 12 volt plugs for power.
You NEVER get a full 11 clcok after an 8/2 split because the time driven between the two breaks is part of the new 11.
