So I’m heading to Prime this Saturday, the thing I’m most worried about is the pre Trip. So many things to remember the right name, not forgetting anything. Besides I lived in Germany 20+ years so often people don’t understand me 100% with my accent. How hard is it really to remember all the names and stuff? I downloaded the guide her and gonna study it on my 24hour journey.

They give you a study guide on day 1 that lists word for word what your expected to know and say. They'll also give you info for a phone app that describes the entire pretrip with pictures. Also at the campus inn there is a tractor and trailer in the parking lot specifically for students to practice their pretrip on. I highly suggest using all those available tools.

When you get a trainer make sure you practice a full pretrip on their truck every day. Burn that pretrip into your memory.

Pretrip was the thing I was also most afraid of. I practiced practiced practiced and got a perfect score when it came time to test.

From what I’ve read, you will not only get it, you’ll be dreaming about it in your sleep. It’s about following the step by step process. Once you get that part of it, you can practice projecting your voice. Someone else mentioned this due to the fact that you will have to make sure the examiner hears your voice over the sounds of other trucks being driven all around you. The more you read the downloadable app from this site, you you will be better prepared than those that just show up without the benefit of reading all the helpful material on here. Good luck PB, God bless & stay safe.

We have a pre-trip inspection study guide here which has everything:

Pre-trip Inspection Study Guide

Pre-trip Inspection:

A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.

Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.

Thank you everyone. I actually printed Daniel's Version of the pre Trip and will study it on my way to Springfield. I think i just worry to much, but this is the first time in a long time that i really want a Job and know that its a Job i will/ can enjoy. I know im a good learner just my accent always gets in my way, but i guess if the Instructor has a Problem he will let me know.

With enough practice and repetition you will have it burned into your brain. Honestly, a bunch of the parts and steps are just repeats. Create a process you follow consistently. For me, I started high on the drivers side, and worked my way down and away, rotating clockwise around the entire truck + Trailer always going top to bottom.

Create a system that works for you and your individual habits and style.
