I'm not sticking up for the other guy, eff him if he was at all like he was described. And I don't mean to draw some personal line with you. But I also can't understand how that dude just quit (for any reason.) Much less let words figure into that decision.

If you have never experienced racism, firsthand, you will never understand. It is FAR MORE, than just words. I have experienced it, being Mexican /Native American. I agree that we all have /had our own sacrifices we have to overcome to make it in this industry, OP could have done things differently to achieve his goals, but he didn't. But racism should NEVER have to be one of those sacrifices.

Racism should never be have to be one of those prices - TRUE. However, on that note, racisim shouldn't exist at all. But it does. And how people respond to it is based on personal choice, not mandatory action. EXAMPLE: Being called a racist slur and having someone put their hands on you are two entirely different issues. One is laughable and the other one means it's game time.

Again, I don't condone racism. But many people face it (and overcome it) everyday in order to get past it and off to a better life. And if some people choose to pay that price to get to something greater, awesome! They shouldn't have to - but if they do, I absolutely respect anyone that overcomes adversity like that and soldiers on toward their goal. It doesn't make racism right, it just makes the other person all the more bad-ass!

Hope that make sense. I'm not trying to be confrontational about this - hell, I don't even know what really happened, much less know either person. But this is the internet so everyone must agree with me or I may never sleep again!

White people experience racism too. I even experienced DWM....Driving With Mustang where i was pulled over at least 3 times a week in the same town. it got to the point where i started bringing the cops coffee. People of color sometimes do not want to believe that, bit it happens. Jews, christians, muslims, catholics, irish etc all have faced racism and discrimination. there is not one group or ethnicity who hasnt.

My trainer called me a stupid woman and women shouldnt drive...etc. sexist yes, did i let it affect me? no. when i upgraded he got fired. since then i have not had any issues with stupid men.

the problem with name calling and racism.is that people get too emotional. if someone is not paying your mortgage, then they do not matter. all of the names or words or whatever only works if the racist knows it bothers you. when you get mad, you give them power over you. you are allowing them to enslave your people all over again...with your own thoughts.

so i ask you....if you think a racist did not want a black man on his truck...then he acts like a racist and the black man leaves...who won? the racist. he gpt the guy off the truvk and the black guy quit and has no training.

my TnT trainer hated women. i wasnt giving him the satisfaction of getting rid of me. i only had to stay on his truck 10k miles after my other trainer had personal issues. i was the one who tortured him. screw him. now he got fired and i have a great career. "i dont like women driving my truck they dont know what they are doing".. yeah well i responded "i kmow you didnt know that beepong sound was a blindside indicator that a car was next to you. it only activates when you ise blinkers and you suck and never use blinkers". oh yeah, trust me he wanted my big mouth far away from him.

again it is about attitude and whether you allow someone to affect you. all this guy had to do was record the racist on his phone. if TMC did nothing he could have blasted it on social.media and destroyed the company. THIS is why i dony believe a lot of claims people make. wheres the proof? i had it. trainer fired.

TNT:

Trainer-N-Trainee

Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.

The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.

The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14¢ per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.

Danielsahn, I know I will never understand racism as I've never dealt with it first hand. What leads me to believe Brandon wasn't fully committed to this career is because how quickly he gave up. I agree NOBODY should deal with discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, or anything else that makes them different than one of their peers. Unfortunately there are always people running their mouth regardless of the profession it involves. With that being said I understand if what Brandon alleges is true, he has every right to be frustrated. To come in here attempting to bully his trainer (making fun of his weight and needing a cpap) makes him no better. He reported his situation and TMC addressed it. As someone else said, Brandon has not proved anything so why should they believe his word especially with such strong allegations without first speaking to the trainer and getting his side of what has occured? If the trainer truly is racist, why would he have taken a black man onto his truck, and want to keep him around longer than required (Brandon claims he knows the trainer wouldn't even sign off on him after 5 weeks). TMC has a moral, and legal obligation to remedy the situation especially if the allegations are true. They did by getting him off that truck and buying him a bus ticket. Unless I missed something he quit on them.

I don't want to sound like I am defending the actions of the OP. His own words in his post seemed to indicate that he too was at fault for the way he dealt with it. If he did as he stated and notified TMC about the manner in which the trainer was addressing him, I would not think TMC or any other company would tolerate that type of situation. There are always two sides to a situation. Only he and his trainer know what truly happened. Oh, and Jeremy, if you are from Cleveland, you better not tell me you are a Steelers fan, or you will be persona non grata

hi

double-quotes-start.png

The majority of his statements seem to convey his frustration, as a black man, with being addressed as "Boy" by his trainee. Is making statements such as Standing up for something and being proud leaves you unemployed and if you want to be a trucker, you have to pay the price of admission, imply that he (being a black man) should accept being addressed as "boy." as the "price of admission? Myself, I wouldn't accept being called "Honky", "cracker" "boy" or other derogatory terms by anyone. In this thread, it seems we are giving the trainer all the benefit of the doubt and casting blame on the OP. The OP's comments about T.M.C. and the trainer's appearance doesn't help his cause here, but his frustration on how the trainer addresses him appears, to me at least, to be the main point he is trying to express. His other comments about the trainer's weight, the truck conditions, etc., appear to e secondary.

double-quotes-end.png

Hey, Don, I'm about to respectfully disagree with you... But first wanted to say hello to a fellow buckeye!

Okay, my opinion on the price of admission isn't based on race (just my humble opinion.) I think it exist and I think that price is different for each and every person. Some may have to face racial issues, some may have to face not seeing their children for months on end, some may lose family members while away, etc., etc. My point is, everyone is going to have to deal with something. And name calling seems like one of the pettiest things I can imagine giving up for.

I just don't get it, brother. It sounded like there may (and again I don't know the whole story) but it sounds like it was a whole combination of events that gave him the excuse to do something he wanted to do all along, anyway - quit.

I'm not sticking up for the other guy, eff him if he was at all like he was described. And I don't mean to draw some personal line with you. But I also can't understand how that dude just quit (for any reason.) Much less let words figure into that decision.

Again, great to see someone else from Ohio in here!

I'm from Cleveland, so I have absolutely no logical reason to be any type of sports fan.

With that said, I'm another dumb Browns fan, of course.

(And there's goes any credibility - When that gets out NOBODY wil hire me!)

I am a Lions fan, soooooooooo.......

But like I also stated, that seemed to be missed, OP could have handled things differently, but he didn't. He chose the easy way out.

Rainy DWM, lol. I experienced DWM, too Driving while Mexican. But it was a Malibu, not a mustang. ☺️

Jeremy, we Browns fan show our loyalty and intestinal fortitude by sticking by them. I grew up in the 70's and they bad then also. Danielsahn, wouldn't it be cool to see a Browns-Lions Superbowl? They are the last of the early teams to never get to a Superbowl.
