Good luck, Colin. Myself, I am headed out Wednesday night to Missouri for training with CFI.
Congrats Colin, just relax and take everything in stride. It’s a short experience when balanced against the rest of your career👍👍
I used the opportunity to practice the "be patient and professional" attitude recommended here
I love hearing that. The improvement it will make to your life and to the way you get along with people can not be overstated when you take that approach. You're going to be so much happier, and people are going to be so much happier with you. It pays off in trucking in a big way because you're in a professional full of hotheads and big mouths. Being kind and patient will get you a lot of favors, just watch and see.
Everyone is nervous and a bit anxious at this point and that's a good thing if you can keep it under control, which it sounds like you can.
Keep us updated and best of luck!
Great story Colin.
It's applicable to share this link as you progress through school:Trucking has the Longest Job Interview
Good luck!
Good luck in your journey Colin. Glad to hear that you have finally pulled the trigger.
Drive Safe and God Speed.
Good luck Cold n. I’ll wave as I drive by in an hour, on my way to our drop yard in Fontana.
Good luck Colin. Remember to relax and study. The instructors there are good people. I went through that school in May.
Thank you for re-posting that, G-Town. I was going to look for it so I could re-read it. Many people in my class of 24 are not treating this like a job interview.
The most amazing thing happened today. The hotel asked me to change rooms and my new roommate is a member of Trucking truth.com!!!
He goes by Wind here. He is in his third week and I'm his sixth roommate. As you'd expect from a TTer, he's a great guy.
Thank you for all of the encouragement, everyone!
Best regards and be safe out there! Colin

I'm checked in at the hotel and ready to start training with Swift in Fontana, CA tomorrow! I have my permit and every endorsement except Hazmat.
When I was checking in, there were groups from two companies checking out and groups from two companies checking in, all at the same time, with only one hotel clerk. I used the opportunity to practice the "be patient and professional" attitude recommended here. Not everybody was polite and patient.
I plan on keeping a diary but I don't know how often I will be able to post. The WiFi here is sporadic, at best.
I would not have made it this far without this site. A huge thank you to Brett, all of the moderators and the folks who post here.
I'm a bit nervous, but it is an excited nervous, not a freaking out nervous.
Best regards and stay safe out there! Colin
