Whether or not a trucking company or bus company will do the necessary maintenance to the vehicle is one good way to determine if a company is right for you when searching for a bus or truck driving job. But the driver also needs to understand their equipment, how it functions, and how to inspect it.
Truck Driving Jobs Increasing Slightly – Student Truck Drivers Finding Work
CDL students are having better luck finding truck driving jobs as we move deeper into 2009 than they were at the beginning of the year and many trucking companies have either begun increasing their hiring numbers or are removing the hiring freezes they’ve had in place in recent weeks. A couple of authors of their [...]

CDL Test Day – What It Was Like Taking (and passing!) the CDL Test
Wow, the day has finally arrived! We are scheduled to take our CDL road test today! We got about 2 inches of snow last night which is not a big deal around here, but I was still a bit concerned about the road conditions. The last thing I wanted was another delay in getting my [...]

Women on the Road – Preparing for the Trip – Part 2
We’ve covered most of your basic necessities in Part 1. Those are the little things that will help you feel more comfortable while being on the road. Truck Driving School 2009: Will The Poor Economy Still Offer Truck Driving Jobs For Students?
In today’s slow economy there are tons of layoffs and more people than ever are considering going to truck driving school and becoming truck drivers – and rightly so. But none of that will matter if you can’t find a job once you get your CDL. So what is the current job outlook for those that are new to the trucking industry?
Not much. You? Trucking Is as Trucking Does.
209, I counted. That’s how many applications I have filled out for trucking companies. Of those only 4 trucking companies have even made an attempt to send me some type of response. 32 of these Apps. will exceed the 90 day limit in 2 days, so to keep them fresh I will have to send those trucking companies another reminder about me. It seems so much easier in this day of E-mail and fax etc.etc.etc.
CDL Training – Hopefully Taking The CDL Test This Week
Last week was pretty busy for me. But things are starting to get a bit repetitive at truck driving school. We’re mostly alternating all day between backing up in the yard and driving truck out on the road. My road skills are becoming quite refined and I’m starting to feel very comfortable driving trucks now. I know I still have a ton to learn and I’m looking forward to getting on with a trucking company and going out on the road with a trainer. I’m sure I’ll be overwhelmed once I’m out there.
