People who have never experienced the life of an over the road truck driver have no idea how difficult the job and the lifestyle is. Here’s a little poem I wrote to let drivers know that some of us do understand, and that we’re thinking about you all the time.
Greetings from the beautiful Smokey Mountains in PA! It’s a beautiful sight out here. But the trip was a bit interesting – and even a bit terrifying at times!

After completing the initial 15 day training period, I’ve now been on the road for 14 of the 28 required days and things are going really well. Here’s some insight into it….

Believe it or not, it’s far easier than you might imagine to get the safety records of trucking companies. And these records have a rather important impact on drivers…here’s how….

This story is dedicated to every long~haul truck driver out there, men & women alike! I am the wife of a long~haul driver and I’m writing this to give recognition to those where very little is given, which is very much needed.
As I said previously, you have to have patience. A sense of humor helps too! I started keeping a diary of where we went and what I did, but after a short time days and events became one long blur.
Finished up orientation on Friday and by Saturday morning, I already had a trainer waiting for me at the terminal. How cool is that!? I met up with him at 8am and had breakfast. I was glad to see that he was a really nice guy. I’ll be sharing a truck with him for about 15 weeks (longer training program than most companies), so I hope our personalities don’t clash. But so far, we’ve been getting along great. We’re finally gonna get rollin!
Well, I finished my CDL school and received my diploma! Hot darn! I am somebody! Here is what I went through during orientation and the important lessons I’ve learned.
Ahhh, finally the last day of orientation. Some of the things today were really interesting, some were so boring they were unbearable. But the company has some interesting open-door policies and the info was important.

Woe is me. Not only is truck driving school not easy, but getting a job and getting rollin in this economy is not the fastest process by any means!
