Waves from the beautiful state of SC to all out there who are reading this! Thank you for stopping by my little peace of cyberland and taking a look at my path into a career as a professional truck driver. I hope to present my journey in a logical and well written blog so that you, the reader, can see in your mind’s eye the path I have taken.
Day two of week two dawned (if you want to call it that) chilly and rainy. Of course, that’s typical for the Pacific Northwest at this time of year. Our truck driver training is advancing into new stages.
So, finally I got into the school on 4/20 and started the classroom phase. My school required that we have already gotten the CDL permit and all five of the required endorsements (combination vehicle, doubles/triples, air brakes, tanker, and hazardous materials). That said, the school did provide two days of review over the general knowledge [...]
Welcome to the first post of what I hope to be a very long series of blog entries by yours truly. Who am I, you might ask? Well, I’m known as ‘Old Wolf’, but my real name is Adrian. I’m currently in a trucking school in the Pacific Northwest, and thought I would share my [...]

I remember hearing truck driver’s talk about the comrodary amongst themselves. It seems like years ago. Oh yeah, it was! How they used to wave when passing by. Some still do, but the young “bucks” (newbie’s) haven’t gotten the teachings from the “old timers” that have been around the block a few times.

This trip started out in Laredo, TX and we were heading near Pittsburgh, PA. It was adventurous, frustrating, difficult, and dangerous at times, and we even saw a few things we wish we hadn’t.

Some days you just know it is going to be a bad day. Today was one of them. Its the last of November and there is all sorts of weather heading our way….
Well, it finally happened. My trainer and I are having truck problems. We are currently sitting at our company terminal while our truck gets worked on. What a mess. Here’s what went down…

Most of us who shop do not give it any thought as to how that product got on the shelf. All we expect is to see the shelves full when we spend our money on the needed items. Food, clothing, tools anything you want to buy came on a truck. It takes a lot of trucks to keep America going and the shelves filled.
Truck driving is a special profession, it’s not for everyone. There are two assumptions about truck driving, first assumption is that you will hop in the truck and no one will see you for months, the second assumption is that you’ll get your CDL today and a local job tomorrow. Both assumptions have [...]

Being in a truck is just as spiritual as being on the back of a Harley…nothing else can compare to the unity that’s created and felt from me to my Creator. But the thing that mystifies me the most is the “magic” of just being.
Even though I enjoy what I am doing and am learning so much every day, there is a down side to trucking. This will not affect everyone, but I wouldn’t be honest with all of you if I didn’t cover the tough part of relationships while on the road. Let me try to explain what I mean.

Ok, here I go again….giving my thoughts, opinions & ideas regarding truck stop services (i.e. Pilots & Flying J’s).
Earl and I stopped at a Pilot in Ontario, Oregon (which we stop at quite frequently) on our trip down to Texas to deliver a load and on this one particular day we had money in the [...]
Last time I left you I had just finished waiting out my first blizzard off I-80 in Pine Bluffs. I was so glad I didn’t have to drive in that stuff again. After all, it’s spring! Last week we were leaving Fontana, California with almost 40,000 pounds of something for UPS. This is an on-time, [...]

Olah! I haven’t written for a few weeks, so I have to catch everyone up on how things have been going. I finished school. That’s right. I’m now allowed to drive one of the biggest, baddest vehicles on the road. I can pull tankers full of gas, or truck loads of paper cups. Anything that [...]
