Randy’s Truck Driving School – Day 7
Well, it’s been one week since Randy arrived in Utah, and what a week it’s been. While it went by fast for him, it felt more like a month to me.
Regulation and Scrutiny Of Truck Drivers Increasing Steadily
The number of Federal Rules and Regulations for truck drivers and trucking companies has continuously increased over the years, along with stricter enforcement both on and off the highways. A recent announcement by the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration shows that there will be even greater scrutiny just around the corner.
Randy’s Truck Driving School – Day 6
Randy was all excited and relieved to tell me that, early in the day, he passed his backing test on the first try. He was nervous, so he did lose 2 points (could miss 12 and pass). He’s been backing trailers (on and off over the years) since he was 16, but said that being trained in proper techniques has increased his confidence. He said the thing he misses most about home is “me making dinner”. What??? Shouldn’t he have just said “me”? The thing I miss most, at least right now, is just being able to sleep.

Oh, I can’t believe my husband’s been gone less than a week, it feels like a month! Usually time goes by so quickly but now it’s just dragging, even though I’ve been ridiculously busy. His CDL training has been fast-paced and tough.

Almost a week has gone by now and things are rolling along. Some people are doing well, others not so much, and the time apart is not getting any easier.

The pace of CDL training has started out very fast and it’s been a tough adjustment in lifestyle for both my husband and myself.

Well, I spoke to Randy for nearly an hour last night about his first full day at truck driving school, and it was over a 12-hour marathon starting at 7 am. Ha, he thinks I’m a genius now for all the research I’ve done!
First Week of Company-Sponsored Schooling
Well it’s Sunday and I have just completed my first week of truck driving school. This is my first and only day off for this week! What a week it has been!
Packing List for Truck Driving School
Before he left, my husband and I were arguing because he thought I was being obsessively neat and organized and over-packing. Now he is super-grateful at the way it was done. So far, he hasn’t said there was anything he would have skipped. Here’s a great list of items to bring with you on the road.
