Truck Driving In A Cave

Being a truck driver is a lifestyle that is filled with challenges, incredible experiences, stress, and adventure. You never know what the next day will bring! On occasion I get to go to a place called Springfield Underground which is a pretty cool place - I like going there. As stated by Louis Griesemer, now the owner of Springfield Underground:

It was started by my father as a mine in 1946 because in those days they were looking for agricultural lime, primarily, to build the soils. The Extension Service was reimbursing the farmers to put lime back into the soil, trying to build the nutrients back into the soil after the Dust Bowl days.

In 1954, the decision was made to go underground. By 1960, they already had enough space mined out that they started underground storage. The second building we built was a cold storage building. Our first tenant in cold storage was Kraft Foods here in Springfield, Missouri.

It's a gigantic place now and you can read more about it on The Springfield Underground Website. It's not a place you'd want to get lost in, but it's probably the best place you could be in a tornado! If you think you might like being a truck driver, then here's an example of one experience I'll bet you never even considered:
