Great story. I am also enjoying learning about trucking in your country. Same type of trucking issues/headaches/concerns are here too. So trucking is not any different for drivers wherever they live.

Yes, one should not look for trouble. Male or female, I believe that most companies do not want drivers going to bad area's. It was also good to read that your company allows plenty of time to do the job right. Mistakes happen when one is rushed to do their job--no matter what that job is.

Looking forward to next story.

The first night is the hardest,I think.
And this week I am also on nightshifts .. for the second week!
That is not what I want and discussed with my employer .. but there was no other work. And you just do it.

For tonight only 3 trips and all somewhat in the neighbourhood of Amsterdam.
8 till 9 hours of work so I think.

So that's okay for a first night of 5.

That is so funny that your neighbor is learning the violin! I thought that only happened in movies and comedies! LoL!

That was also a great answer about the fuel being twice as expensive out of the tanker "because it's the fresh stuff" - hilarious!

I'm also learning a lot about Europe - it's fascinating to me. Like for instance, you guys have bread??? That's awesome! We have bread too! It's a small world :-)

I worked night shift for about 6 months one time driving local. I was hauling auto parts out of Canada back into the U.S. I liked driving at night with very little traffic, but I had no life at all. It was like 15 hours from the time I left home until I got back. All I could do was shower, eat, and sleep. Then on the weekend you try changing your sleep schedule so you can do things with friends, but like you said that first night back to work is really tough! I wouldn't want to work at night again.
