It’s Official – My Truck Driver Training is Over

After months of research, one month of CDL truck driving school, and 4 months of company training, I’m now going out on the open road as a solo company driver. Wow, sometimes I think back and it’s taken forever to get here, while other times I think back and it’s gone by in an instant.

Trucking Company Orientation: Not Much Fun

Basically, when going to orientation, prepared to be bombarded with videos, tested on your skills, and grilled about your past. I’m looking foreword to getting the heck out of this hotel, and getting on the open road. Hopefully, my trainer will show up in the next day or two. If not, it looks like I’m just going to have to wait…..

Ahhh, finally the last day of orientation. Some of the things today were really interesting, some were so boring they were unbearable. But the company has some interesting open-door policies and the info was important.

Today was a much better day than yesterday. Instead of just paperwork, we had some real-world stuff. First I had to take a quick driving test. This is nothing like the CDL road test. It’s just to prove to them that you aren’t completely crazy and know the basics of shifting. These trucks are awesome!

Trucking Company Orientation – Day One

Today was a very hectic day. I started orientation with the trucking company I was hired on with. It was far from being “memorable”, but there are a few things you should know….
