Good post. One needs to pack for all the weather changes and have clothing that works in both--like the layer thing. Gloves are a must when around trailers. Any type of weather. You might want to get a 5th wheel puller to reach the pin as sometimes there is not enough room to reach the pin due to air leaks, snow, ice and just plain old mud. This will save your clothes/coats.

Most companies are having a no idle policy and I do believe in that but I will also not freeze to death or die of heat stroke while the office staff has a nice warm/cool office and then goes home to a warm/cool house. So I idled some when it had to be done. Hopefully the APU's will soon be put on all trucks so drivers can get their rest for a legal break.

Sounds like all is going just great for you and soon you will be like an old pro at this driving! You may even want to be a trainer when you get more time in!!
