Ok, so the first day wasn’t that great. I mean it is what it is. You do alot in the 15 day course. Its very fast paced.
The rooms they put you in are small, but clean. The second week you go to the hotel. The tv room is nice and they do have a pool table, laundry and a shuttle bus that can run you to Walmart.
OK, So here is how my day went.
After getting a shower and something to eat, which they do have good food.
7am you start all the paperwork, background check, physical, lifting tests, etc. Oh Yeh, my favorite, the drug test.
All that took till about noon then lunch then by 1pm you go to the class room. The instructor is very nice and explained the schedule and how much studying you have to do in two days, because by Wed. you go and take your CDL test to get your permit. If you fail you can try again on Thursday, if you fail, you go home.
So we had class till 530pm and we received the training manual test questions, etc. So with that said I better run, have to study, they recommend you study till 2am get up at 6am and in class by 7am and do that for two nights, take the CDL “A” test and then you can sleep. So off I go.
Till next time, have a good day.

Priceville, Alabama was where my trucking adventure began. A Super 8 motel room would be my home for the next three weeks while I attended CDL school. I did not know what to expect on the first day, but I met a wide range of personalities in the other students. It was incredible to see the diversity.... - December 2, 2009 -- Randy’s Phase 1 CDL Training – Part 5
Another day stuck at the school, another interesting story...don't know if it's true, but it's interesting. Supposedly, a student took a bottle of liquor on the truck while with an instructor and other students. They got 30 miles away at a truck stop, the safety manager and cops were called, and he got a D.U.I. If it really happened, it's incredibly stupid! A lot of odd things happen at that school.... - November 17, 2009 -- Advice For Truck Driving School Students

Randy was SO excited the last time I talked to him because after a change of plans, he and his trainer are now going to Mira Loma, CA first. And they get to drive past Las Vegas at night, which sounds really cool! He knows he's going to be working really hard and be busy learning new things, but there is a "vacation" element to this, for him. ... - November 11, 2009 -- Randy’s Truck Driving School – Days 18 & 19
I have to admit there have been times, during the first 3 weeks of this experience, where I began to feel that the entire trucking industry might be orchestrated by a bunch of mad scientists conducting some kind of evil psychological experiment. And we (the students, drivers and their families) are their human guinea pigs. ;) Seriously though, it's been a wild little ride so far, and I'm sure that will continue. Truck driver training usually involves a lot of pressure. The intensity of the experience is part of what made it so special for him. Randy sounded a bit odd when I talked to him today. For the past several days, he has mentioned feeling trapped and restless, and anxious to begin training. I suspected it was just a reaction to all that he had been through, combined with elation from his success, which can be just as overwhelming as the constant anxiety and tension....
Welcome Scott!! Looking forward to your stories on reefers. I know nothing about them. I am interested in what type of training goes with that compared to the box trailer that I learned. Did pull a couple of reefer trailers to Texas for FEMA. I learned they are heavier and the insides are different too. That is it for my knowledge on reefers.
You will have all of us cheering you on thru your training. We are here for you.
Glad to see you here, Scott! Another view on trucking is always welcome. Like Rhonda, I am looking forward to reading about your tales of adventure in the trucking industry. Welcome and good luck!
Hey welcome to the blogs Scott! It’s nice to have another Greenhorne on board! I look forward to following you along.
Hey, if you all need any questions answered about them, hit me up. I used to work for them (train, o.t.r. local). I can tell you all the in and outs about them.
