First, check and see what it says on your DAC report. Make sure the information is accurate. If it's not, you can file a complaint to get it changed. Then the only thing you can do is apply like mad to every trucking job imaginable until someone gives you another shot. It clearly wasn't your fault so you shouldn't have that tough of a time getting back out there again. We have a fantastic job board that is free to use and requires no registration. I was involved in but not the cause of the death of a baby while in my truck. What happened is this, I was sitting still in traffic when this other trucker slammed into my truck causing my trailer to slam into this family van causing a fatality, now when I applied with this one trucking company, I was told they didn’t want to associate with someone who was involved in the death of a child. This terrible accident wasn’t caused by me, I was sitting still, I was in no way the cause of this accident but made to pay the coincidences of what happened. What can I do?

Hey Mike!
Thanks for all of the informative posts.
I’m considering going into trucking and since you drive out of Chicago a lot I wondered if you know of some good companies to apply to. (I live in the near west burbs about 2 mi. from Chicago City Limits.)
I’ve checked some major ones and found some good ones: Schneider seems good, so does Werner.
Also, I’ve found a school nearby that is certified by the Sec. State and seems to have good reviews. I should be able to get the dough together within a couple of weeks, then I plan on going to school to get my CDL.
Any tips on driving out of Chicago? This seems like a good city to drive out of.
