Action Career Training

The staff at Action Career Training is experienced and well-trained. Instructors strive to maintain excellence in the classroom by providing high quality education that includes three aspects of training: classroom, field training, and actual driving instruction.

What Programs Does Action Career Training Offer?

ACT offers a 160-200 Hour CDL Class A Training Program which includes the following:

  • Classroom curriculum covers all the materials necessary for you to obtain your Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP).
  • Range training sessions teach you all of the basic maneuvers required by the State of Texas.
  • On-the-Road training sessions are designed to give you the professional skills needed to handle your truck and trailer with proficiency and safety.

The Abilene ACT campus offers a 40-hour refresher course for truck drivers who already possess a Class A CDL, and have passed both a DOT Physical and the road assessment test.

Admission Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age prior to their scheduled graduation date.
  • Possess and produce a valid Class “C” driver’s license or Class “A” learner’s permit.
  • Students must provide a complete list of all traffic citations received during the past three years or grant permission for the school to request a three year record through USIS, and/or an applicable state agency.
  • Students must be willing to submit to a physical examination, including a urinalysis drug screen as prescribed by the U.S. Department of Transportation and administered by a physician designated by the school.
  • Students must have a high school diploma or high school equivalency or be able to pass an approved Ability to Benefit test.
