Alvin Community College CDL Training

Multiple programs to support your trucking career

Alvin Community College offers a 160-hour Class "A" CDL training program, providing classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel driving experience, a pre-trip testing training program, and refresher training courses. Students are prepared for entry-level employment in the trucking industry and will receive their CDL in 4 weeks via day classes or 8 weeks via evening classes.

The pre-trip course is customized to provide the learner with all of the training and practice they need in order to pass the pre-trip testing component needed to obtain a Class A or B License. The 40-hour CDL Refresher Course will reacquaint the student with equipment and safe operation. The student will demonstrate control of the vehicle; exhibit the ability to shift the tractor efficiently; demonstrate the operation of a tractor trailer combination; and move the vehicle safely forward and backward around various obstacles. Classes are based on demand.

All students are required to have their CDL Commercial Learner's Permit before registering, at a cost of $25. Students are required to pass all four sections of the CLP exam.
