International Institute of Transportation Resource, INC

IITR truck driving school was started in 1981. The school has an excellent truck driving program with very reasonable tuition rates. There are five locations throughout Oregon with both day and evening classes. They offer students modern equipment, trailers with real-world load simulation, and a solid curriculum. The school has trained over 20,000 CDL students.

CDL Courses Offered

• Class A Course
  • The total number of hours is dependent upon each individual. The minimum number of clock hours is 160. For those who need additional training, they offer a fifth week of instruction no charge
  • Instructor to student ratio: Maximum: Classroom 1/18, Yard training 1/9, Road training 1/3
  • Student to truck ratio: Yard: 2/1 when possible; never more than 3/1. Road: 2/1 when possible; never more than 3/1
  • Classroom Training includes: general knowledge, endorsements, log books, map reading, trip planning, load management, cargo handling, accident reporting, and quizzes over materials
  • Yard training includes: backing maneuvers: Straight, sight-side angle (both 45 and 90 degree), off-set, and blind. Other yard training includes pre-trip, in-cab, in-route, and post trip inspections, coupling and uncoupling both a tractor-trailer and double trailers, sliding fifth-wheels and tandem axles to learn to adjust axle weights, tire chain installation and brake adjusting
  • Road training includes: The school focuses on making right and left hand turns with a lot of up shifting and down shifting. These skills are practiced on straight roads, tight curves, city driving, 2-lane rural driving, freeway driving, and hill conditions. Students receive the necessary training to ensure they are ready to drive in all conditions, even adverse conditions, weather permitting
• Doubles Custom Training
  • This is a five-hour course
  • 1.5 hours classroom instruction
  • 1 hour yard, introduction to equipment
  • 1 hour road instruction
  • 1.5 hours yard instruction
• Refresher Training
  • Class A 40-hour Refresher Training Course - This program is typically offered only to those who have prior experience and is the most popular refresher program. It does not include a road test. The course includes classroom training - 16 hours, road training - 10 hours, yard training - 10 hours, and a written Evaluation - 4 hours
  • 15-hour Instructional Training/Testing Program - includes a State CDL road test and a written evaluation. This program is typically offered only to those who have prior experience

Training Schedule

• Day Classes: 4-week class (start times can vary). You will attend 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday or 10 hours a day Monday through Thursday or a mixture of both
• Night Classes: 8-week class (start times can vary). You will attend 4 hours a night Monday through Friday, or 5 hours a night Monday through Thursday or a mixture of both
• Weekend Classes: 10-week class (start times can vary). You will attend 8 hours a day, Saturday and Sunday

Tuition and Financing

• Application Fee: $50
• Registration fee: $100.00
• Tuition: $4,550.00
• The cost of a D.O.T. physical is between $70.00 and $95.00, and the cost of a pre-employment drug screen is between $55.00 and $70.00. These fees are subject to change by the clinic and school location
• All costs associated with the CDL permit, written endorsements, road test fees, and issuance of final CDL are approximately $415.50 to $425.50. These fees are subject to change by the DMV
