Introduction to LaGuardia Community College

The Transportation Institute at LaGuardia Community College is an approved New York State training provider for the transportation industry. Courses range from basic driver education to advanced commercial driver training programs with experienced staff and professional instruction.

What does LaGuardia Community College Offer?

• Class A and B Permit Training - One, two hour session, to prepare you for the NYS DMV driver permit test for CDL Class A (tractor trailers) or CDL Class B (buses and light trucks).

  Tuition cost: $39

• Class A CDL - Offered in a 10 or 20-hour package, sessions include driving lessons, pre trip vehicle inspection, and vehicle control air brake usage. Also included is the road test appointment; a tractor-trailer for the road test; and road test evaluation.

  Tuition cost for 10 sessions: $1769
  Tuition cost for 20 sessions: $2000

• Class B CDL - Learn to operate a bus safely and efficiently in real life traffic. Offered in a 10 or 20-hour package, sessions include driving lessons, pre trip vehicle inspection, and vehicle control air brake usage. Also included is the road test appointment; a passenger bus for the road test; and road test evaluation.

  Tuition cost for 10 sessions: $1679
  Tuition cost for 20 sessions: $2000

• Class C CDL - One, four hour session, to prepare you for the NYS DMV driver permit test for CDL Class A (tractor trailers) or CDL Class B (buses and light trucks). Earn an entry level commercial license that allows you to operate commuter vans or small buses.

  Tuition cost: $69

Requirements

• 18 years of age or older
• A valid NYS DMV driver license and other DMV required documents for a Class C CDL and Permit Training.

• A valid NYS DMV Class A or B driver permit prior to completing the training sessions for Class A or B CDL.
