Fast-Track Certificate

Lone Star College Transportation Institute offers a six-week CDL training program consisting of 240 contact hours. Students receive a Fast-Track Certificate (non-academic-credit industry training) and are prepared for the CDL Written Skills test. The course includes different levels and specific CDL license exam preparation.

Lone Star trained more than 500 drivers in 2017, and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on College. The cost of tuition for the Professional Truck Driver Training course is $3489. The school also partners with Stevens Transport to offer an alternative program consisting of 136 hours of training with variable tuition. The school boasts a 96% job placement rate and partners with recruiters from Covenant Transport, Stevens Transportation, Swift Transportation, USA Truck, and Werner Enterprises.

Classes are offered seven days a week, daytime only and with opportunities for half-days.

What you will learn

In Lone Star College’s Professional Truck Driver training, you will cover basic knowledge and skills for the CDL exam, safe operation of a tractor-trailer, and extensive classroom, backing, and driving training.

• Commercial Drivers License Written Skills: 64 hours
• Professional Truck Driver I: 80 hours
• Professional Truck Driver II: 80 hours
• Commercial Drivers License Exam Preparation: 16 hours
