I’ve been driving for around two and a half years now. I work for a freight company based in Salt Lake City, Utah and I just got a chance for a job that I’ve wanted for awhile. I have two accidents that aren’t on my MVR and have discussed them both with my potential new employer. The first accident was five months after getting my CDL. I was turning a sharp corner with a 53’ and a car came barreling towards me and wouldn’t stop. I should’ve stopped but I turned sharper and bumped the pole. Definitely a learning experience. The truck and trailer were fine and there was almost no damage to the trailer except for some scratched reflective tape. The pole was replaced but come to find out it was getting ready to be replaced anyways. Thankfully, I wasn’t cited in this accident and it didn’t go on my MVR(in fact the lady in the car was cited for wreck less driving and DUI). The second accident was when I was coming into a smaller town. The speed limit in the area was 45 and I was in the right lane getting ready to turn into a dock. About 200 feet before the turn off, a teenager in a car ran the stop sign and I couldn’t stop in time. I couldn’t change lanes because of the cars next to me. Luckily everyone was alright and like the first accident, the other driver was cited and I was not. This accident also did not go on my MVR. The new employer knows about these accidents and told me that they shouldn’t affect anything but I’m worried that I’m going to get hired on and then fired because their insurance company won’t insure me. Has anyone had any similar experiences?
