New trucker in the Port Charlotte area...
Man, I'm happy I stopped by this forum! I can't thank you enough for all of that information. Looks like I have a lot of homework to do tonight haha. Thanks again!!!
Hello everyone! I am highly motivated to get into the trucking industry and I was hoping for a little help/advice on how to get going. Does anyone know of any companies hiring in the Port Charlotte, Florida area that would send me to trucking school? I want to get going as quickly as possible. Is it a better option to just get my CDL on my own, or do I need to go to school to get hired? Thank you all so much for your help and I look forward to participating more in this awesome forum!
Howdy, Joshua;
Welcome to Trucking Truth!!!!!
First of all, we DEFINITELY recommend company paid training over a private school for MANY reasons, the guys/gals will chime in shortly. Until then; here's a start, (our starter pack!) for you to peruse. Brett's book is the 2nd item down; it's a 'MUST READ~!'
- Truck Driver's Career Guide
- Brett's Book: The Raw Truth About Trucking (free online version)
- High Road CDL Training Program
- CDL Practice Tests
And when you digest all the above, we have this:
Where you can apply to MANY training programs, with one quick app.
Lastly, it doesn't matter where you live; these companies will accomodate your travel, to their prospective facilities, and provide food and lodging for you, as well.
Welcome to this exciting profession!!
