I will be heading to Salt Lake City for CDL training in the coming week. I'm starting to get really nervous!
I want a career change and I have long considered truck driving. Coming from a Healthcare career, this is a BIG change for me. Although I'm confident in my ability to be able to comprehend and drive a CVM. I'm starting to become anxious and really nervous. I have done quite a bit of research regarding women truckers. I'm not worried about handling myself with sexual harassment, or sexism, I've also worked in construction when I was in my early 20's, so I feel I can handle that. My main anxiety trigger is the UNKNOWN! I have looked up some videos on YouTube but most are posted by males and the female posters I've come across haven't really touched on the subject of "that time of month", how to deal with it, and how your training partner and mentor may or may not deal with it once on the road. Unfortunately for me, menstruation is a very difficult time, needing to excuse myself much more frequently than a woman would normally need to due to flow. Another unknown for me is wondering if there are many women applicants or if I will be in class with all males, (not that I mind) it would just be neat to know incase I may need a woman's advice while in training, you know?
Any advice would help me greatly! Need to kick these nerves and just get a better understanding of what women face in this field especially as a rookie.
Thanks a million!
