Fuel bonus ???

Yes sir I did read that whole conversation and I did learn something but just wondering I’ve been axing 4 test and they are saying that you only take the combination vehicle & Texas commercial vehicle operation test. .. I guess I need to check into that a little more, don’t want to het caught with your pants down so to speak lol thank you !

It sounds like you are ready James. In Texas they have an additional section which you will need to know also. I didn't look it up to make sure, but it seems like that is section 14 in the Texas manual. Does that sound right? Texas is the only state that has questions on the permit test from that section. In fact they are the only state with that section in their manual.

When you hear someone refer to a fuel bonus it is something the company offers to drivers who manage to keep their fuel mileage at certain levels. Fuel and payroll are two of the biggest expenses in the trucking business. They try all kinds of way to keep their fuel expenses at acceptable levels. Of course it is a constantly moving target with fuel prices being so volatile. Let's just say your company offers you an extra three cents per mile on your loads for the month if you can keep your fuel mileage above 7 miles per gallon. If your mileage ends up averaging 7.6 miles per gallon for the month then they will take your total miles for that month, multiply it by .03, and you will get a bonus check for that amount. If you ran 10,500 miles for the month you would get a fuel bonus for $315.00. At that rate you can earn yourself almost an extra four thousand dollars for the year. That is just a bare bones explanation. Many of these companies have other incentives for productivity and safety also. Some of these programs can net a driver an extra ten grand or more throughout the course of a year.

Fuel bonus ???

Thank you for your insight I’m learning more and more every day God Bless

OS nailed it. Considering what the National fuel surcharge is right now (additional money paid on loads to offset fuel costs) companies should be paying exceptionally well on fuel bonuses. Currently it’s sitting at 36% which at 7mpg and a rate paying $2 per mile will cover the cost of fuel and put extra money in the companies pocket.

Fuel bonus ???

I have seen the phrase “fuel bonus” a few times and wasn’t sure what that was ?

Sorry guys I’m brand knew to this industry, studying for my class A permit and have been making mid to low 90s on air brakes/ combination vehicles/ general knowledge & Texas commercial vehicle operation test ! I made a post similar to this yesterday, got some great feedback but the reason I’m making another one is because I saw on this cdl free training trucking website that those were the only test you had to pass to get your CLP !

I think I’m ready . ..

Thanks in advance fellas

Will You Take The Jab?

Good luck to you and your retirement I hope it all works out just the way you want it too. ..

Have been against all this covid BS since it began. Didn't wear a mask, unless forced to at recievers, or shippers. Pretty healthy, haven't had so much as a common cold, since 9/2014. After 2 years across the US, in all different kinds of weather, never had a single sniffle. I'm not a germ-a-phobe, worrying about the slightest chance to catch "something". Pffft we survived every other virus that's came out over the past 30+ years or more!

But am on the fence now watching, and waiting, because I have planned for years, to retire in the Philippines, and live a healthier life style, eating FRESH unprocessed foods etc. And, the nicer climate 70-95 temps. And be with my fiance, who's been waiting for me, over the last 2 years.

So, IF they stick with requiring the jab, to enter, then, and ONLY then, will I consider getting it. Hard choice, since I have pretty much been the type to not follow the herd, I dare to be different. Hopefully, over the next couple few months, it wont be an issue to be vaxxed for entry, with a negative swab test only.

Will You Take The Jab?

double-quotes-start.png

Just wondering if this mandate on companies with over 100 employees is going to put truckers in a position to get vaccinated or lose their jobs ?????

If so are you going to take the “jab!” ?

double-quotes-end.png

There is NO way I will ever accept one of those "vaccines." The fact that they are pushing so hard to have the entire globe accept an injection for a virus with a 99.9% survival rate is extremely suspicious, IMO. I've heard too many bad things about them to put something like that into my body. Just look at what is happening down in Australia and we can see what we can expect here if we don't take a stand and say "NO."

Israel is one of the highest vaccinated countries in the world if not the absolute highest ! Their hospitals are packed with ppl who have been vaccinated ! FYI “the jab” isn’t a vaccination it’s being administered under that emergency clause/ still experimental and if anyone has taken ” the jab “ the you are part of their experiment ! I realize it’s a personal decision, I wish you all the luck for you family & friends GOD BLESS . ..

I’ve already been vaccinated against COVID-19, not for my personal health but for those in my life with weakened immune system or compromised immune system which are quite a few people. It’s better for me to play it safe then be sorry for these loved one.

Do You Think I Can Pass My Permit Test?

Hey I appreciate that man thank you ! Be safe out there. ..

Just pick and use 1 or 2 study programs, so you don't get brain overload. My 1st co-driver from school was listening to others at school, all giving him other things to study with. I stayed up a couple nights til 3-4 am trying to help him. He got too much in his head, screwing him up when it came time to test.

Took him until his 4th try, to actually get it, and set him back 2 weeks in school finishing, because of using way too many app's etc. And Yes, I tried to steer him and others HERE, to use TT's valuable tools to no avail lol

Do You Think I Can Pass My Permit Test?

Ok thank you I’ve just been studying the general knowledge test/ the combination vehicles & the air brakes on this site and taking test on a couple more to see what is different ? I also been talking to different companies that have the cdl training program to see about the pay/ duration of the contract/what equipment they have as far as trucks go trying to determine who has the best set-up

I agree with Steve L. The questions won't differ too much from what you been studying. Just keep studying up to the day you take your test and you should be fine.

The real concern after that is finding the right school to get your license. If I had to do it over again I would have went to a paid training from a company, I recently obtained my CDL A from a private school and not sure that I picked the right one. Make sure they teach you about coupling, the sliding tandems and the pre trip in depth. My school didn't show me the tandems and I had to ask them about the coupling system.

Good luck on the permit test

Do You Think I Can Pass My Permit Test?

Ok thank you !

When I took my Florida permit test, the questions were almost verbatim what’s on the High Road Training Program practice exams.

I hope this helps.
