DOT Drug Testing: Urinalysis or Hair Follicle?

I don't know if this will help or just frustrate some of you.

My son has been clean for about 90 days before he went in for training. His UA tests were clean, but he was just disqualified from CR England because he was required to submit a hair sample. IF he had shaved his head when he quit all his partying he may have had enough hair (1.5 inches) to pass the test, but he didn't cut his hair and they had access to all that information.

BTW. If you go to CR England, the hair samples are done randomly. Not everyone gets tested, so you have a chance of making it through. But how disappointed will you be when you are doing a stellar job and have passed all the tests, built relationships with all the instructors and comraderie with your fellow students...and are being booted out because you lied about not having used drugs in the last 12 months.

It's a hard lesson to learn. For many of the things you want out of life, you really do have to live up to societies standards and driving an 80,000 vehicle that can easily crush everyone around you is a huge responsibility, so everyone (the company and it's insurance company) require you to be clean and responsible because they need the loads delivered so they can make money and they need any accidents to not be the fault of their drivers - because it's expensive or impossible to find insurance if you have a reputation for having bad drivers or drivers who use drugs.

IF driving is what you truly want. Shave your head, plan to stay clean until you retire, and do something else until your hair grows out again...
