Will I be able to get a job as CDL A Truck Driver with two DWI'S?
Hello Mets and welcome to the forum.
I don’t usually jump in on this subject because others here are more knowledgeable about DWI violations and how they are viewed by companies, but yours are very old so I don’t think they will prevent you from getting a job.
Usually the time frame for having a clean record is 5 years or so. Yours is clean for about 15 to 20 years, so it is a favorable record currently.
My question would be this: How are you planning on obtaining your CDL? The recommendation here will be to get company sponsored paid training. Here is a link:
Hi BK, thanks for the welcome and the link. I appreciate your encouragement.

I've got a dwi in 2001 and another in 2002, no one was hurt and there was no accidents involved. I understand what I've done was wrong and have paid my dues. I have not had a drink in 13 years, I do not do drugs. My only other offense is an attempted assault 3rd degree in 2005 (it was self defense) but I left the scene since my life was threatened by 5 thugs, I beat one of them badly and the police said they are "known gang bangers" and the local sheriff's dept did everything they could for me just to keep me out of jail, but since I left and one of them was hospitalized I had to cop a charge for it. Since then I've got nothing at all on my record accept a seat belt ticket from 4 years ago where I was a passenger in my father's car that had a locked up seat belt I could not use. I'd really like to get my cdl and I've been studying for months, appreciate any advice I can get and God bless you all.

Thank you Kearsey, i originally had the fantasy that i would pay myself through private school here in ny and land a lower paying local job, that would have been ideal as i have children. But it seems i need to go otr for one year and so I'm looking at TMC and Maverick, I'll be doing some research on Covenant and Wilson logistics tomorrow aswell. Unfortunately Prime would have absolutely been my first choice but i guess beggers can't be chosers and I appreciate your reply.
If i end up getting in the door somewhere I'll be happy and committed.
