My First Day

Hey all. I finished my 2nd day yesterday and all went well. Just classroom stuff. I got a call from my recruiter; Joshua; while I was in class and gave him a call once I got back to the hotel. He said that I needed to talk to the hiring manager and put me through. The hiring manager said that as long as I was good with their terms; drive for them for 6 months; and obviously if my drug test comes back clear, I'm hired!

The only thing is.....I didn't study for the drug test...😆 lol!

I'm not sure what I'm doing now. I'm in the hotel room. My roommate hasn't gotten a call yet, but he doesn't seem to be too concerned.

OxyContin

Hey Bruce. How are you doing. I hope you're doing great and they gave you the knees of Superman.

Anyway, from what I've heard OxyCotin is some pretty strong stuff. I'm almost positive; but don't quote me; that if that's in your system I don't think they will let you drive. I hope I'm wrong on that. I've never taken it myself, but I was prescribed Tylenol 3 with Codine once. I didn't think it was going to be that powerful. I took it in the kitchen and passed out on the living room floor before I could get to the bedroom....lol.

Just had surgery and was given OxyContin, (maybe called Oxycodone) at the hospital. They sent a supply home with me to use as necessary. Is the use of this pain killer going to be a problem for me when I get back to driving? What if I get a random pee test right after I get back? This is prescription stuff, of course. Is this something I need to talk to my safety dept. about?

My First Day

Hey Bruce. Sorry about that. Seems like they shut things off when you don't pay the bills. Damn! Lol!

Wondered what happened to you.

Good luck with the WE program!

My First Day

Hey all. I apologize for not saying anything sooner. Had my phone shut off for a bit. Damn economy!

Anyway, I'm in Richmond, VA at Western Express on lunch now on my first day. Everything going good so far. They are going to take us out for a quick road trip soon. TTYL 👋

Week from Hell ended horribly!

Hi Paul. Yes, I had kept mixing the 2 up. It is Western Express and I had received a call from Joshua; the recruiter; yesterday and he said that he finished the paperwork up, gave it to the hiring manager and I was approved. Unfortunately, he did remind me that they can not effectively hire me until the plastic copy of my CDL-A license comes in. So, I'm still waiting on that. Ugh!

Lol I was just asking because you kept saying US Xpress and I was pretty sure it was Western Express 😂

Just turned on the TV.....

"I'm **** Groggerman and this is the Financial News. In a surprise move, mega corporation; Jinx Malloinks; just bought out Western Xpress trucking company."

"At the press briefing after the buy-out, CEO and President of Jinx Mallionks; Ima Scammer; said, "We're not interested in trucking at all. We're going to layoff all of the employees, sell all of the tractors and trailers. We're then going to take all of the money generated and put it towards the study of the single most important issue facing all of humanity. The research and development of a brand new sport. Competitive Underwater Basketweaving. It's literally what the whole world has been holding their breath for."

"In other news, Boeing has just bought out Smithfield Pork Products. In a statement from Boeing, "Now, officially, pigs can fly."

Hi Paul. Yes, Western Express. I gave them a call I had explained to you that technically, Western Express really hadn't turned me down. Just a lapse in communication from the original recruiter.

Now, I had mentioned about jinxing myself. This is where you tell me that Western Express just went out of business...right?

Fingers crossed man. Looks like all good signs to me.

Just to clarify though, your offer is with Western Express right?

Wow! And I thought I was bad. Jeez! Yeah, I'm not into making the same mistake twice or any new mistakes for thar matter. I mean, I'm sure I'm not going to be a perfect driver, but I'm going to do everything I can to be an incident and accident free driver. That's for sure! Slow and steady wins the race...something like that.

Great news James, glad to see your perserverence is going to pay off for you.....My 2nd co-driver, tore up our truck and never got canned. Even after he ran into a parked truck in a small Pilot in Jersey! He heade to the pumps, too fast, didn't use his mirrors, and cut too soon right into the cab of the truck parked....

He blew so many tires I lost count !! He even did as you, turned to soon, pulling a BRAND spankin new trailer, and bent the wheel and popped the tire !!.....That had to be replaced at a Love's, and was NOT cheap, for a new rim and tire...He had even drug a trailer with brakes locked in a rest area, created 2 flat spots on both rears down to the cords!!

I couldn't wait to get him off my / our truck.....About a year or less he was no longer driving !!

Bestest luck with this new gig, you CAN DO IT
